This property was the perfect getaway for our anniversary. A great place for peace and quiet, with the opportunity to refresh. The place is wonderfully located, and just right even during rainy days. The views and stars were amazing. When they say 4-wheel drive recommended though, they mean it. I was not sure we were actually going to get up the drive, but fortunately we had good weather. All said, this was one of the best places I have ever stayed and will likely stay again.

Awesome weekend getaway spot 🙂

The house is warm and welcoming. Awesome view. Fully stocked kitchen. No toiletries were included, but there were plenty of towels. Smart TV for entertainment. The last mile of the drive is up a steep dirt road. My only complaint is that there were ants (really weird this late in the winter season). The ant problem was easy to get over simply by not leaving food out on the counter. I'll message management about this after I write this review. Ants aside, this stay exceeded my expectations. Best weekend getaway spot with the misses ☺️

Superb Mountain Getaway

This was the perfect place for an anniversary trip! The home was well decorated, everything was clean and orderly, and the kitchen was well supplied (only thing missing was an ice cream scoop). We loved the mountain views and sounds of nature. Upon arriving we were a bit concerned about the proximity of neighboring homes, but with the way the home and deck are situated we quickly forgot we weren't alone on the mountaintop. Highly recommend!

Lovely and private

We had a lovely week long stay for our babymoon. The cabin is accurately described and the photos lend a good impression of the space. It’s very private and peaceful with really nice views. Agree with other reviewers that 4WD or at least a small SUV’s amount of ground clearance are very useful for getting up to the property, but it’s worth it if your goal is private respite/nice views. Property was stocked with helpful basics eg some spices, coffee filters, laundry detergent, etc.

Sweet stay

We loved this spot. The house has everything needed for a getaway & is really nicely remodeled. The view from deck & bedroom can’t be beat. The drive to the house was a little tricky for this suburban girl but that just meant fewer trips out! We were sad to leave it.

Little slice of Heaven

This perfect sized loft is just what my daughter and I needed to get away for a few days. We hiked 2 days at Shenandoah Natl Park which was simply awe inspiring! Then got to come back to enjoy the view at the loft. Couldn’t have asked for anything else. Book the cabin, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing spot

Such a wonderful place for a quiet getaway. Road definitely needs an SUV! Host was very helpful, would go back there in a heartbeat. Great for those who love hiking as Skyline drive is very close.

Spring getaway

We were looking for a quiet, well maintained place, with a view to stay while visiting Shenandoah Park. Overlook Loft is exactly that. Perfect place for a couple to stay. Had to drive a bit getting out to the main road. Not a problem for us. The road in is steep in places and 4WD is recommended. Never saw any neighbors. It is clear that neighbors would appreciate rentees that are quiet and respectful of private property. We would definitely rent here again.

What a view

My husband and I chose the Overlook Loft as a weekend getaway just the two of us for the views and it absolutely exceeded expectations! We watched the sun set over the mountains while drinking wine on the deck, and could see the stars while we slept. All we could hear was birds chirping! The cabin was super clean, smelled great, had everything we needed, and was less than 30 minutes from Shenandoah National Park where we enjoyed a few beautiful hikes off Skyline Drive. It was nice to have an SUV to get up there, would probably have been doable but very bumpy in a smaller car. One thing to know is that the cabin is in a quiet neighborhood not too far from other homes - not something we realized until we got there. We recommend!

Peaceful Cabin

We absolutely loved our stay. The cabin is peaceful, clean, and there are the necessities to cook. We stayed for the last week of the year into New Years, and it was just what we wanted. The owner checked in with us via email. We drove regular cars but it's definitely an off road experience driving from the main road to the cabin. The cabin is situated on a steep hill, although we drove a regular car you'd definitely need 4WD/AWD during bad weather... We were lucky. If you want a peaceful get away, this is the place!

Amazing Views

This house is very nicely decorated and equipped with everything you need for a nice stay on the mountain. You can tell there has been a lot of work done upgrading and decorating the property; and the WiFi was really good considering the location on the mountain. We enjoyed relaxing at the house watching the sunsets and feeding the deer. We drove the short distance to hike the trails in Shenandoah, Massanutten, and even drove the 90 minutes to some great hikes in West Virginia. This house is on the mountain, so a high clearance vehicle or 4x4 is strongly recommended.

Perfect spot for weekend getaway

This place is perfect! Just as described. We used it as a home base for hiking South River Trail in Shenandoah and Elk River Brewing Co afterwards. If I had to suggest improvements— replace the small Mr. Coffee with a better coffee maker with grinder. Overall we loved our stay and will be back!

The Overlook Loft is a wonderful, cozy place, perfect for a romantic getaway. The interior of the cabin is nicely decorated and its large windows look out over a beautiful view of the mountains and provide plenty of natural light. The large back deck is ideally located to watch the sunset over the mountains. Our contact, Jimmy, was very helpful and even arranged a late checkout for us which worked out perfect since a storm was moving through the morning we left and we were able to wait till it had mostly passed. Nothing negative to say. If you want a place to getaway but not totally disconnect this is the place for you. It is at the top of a steep, 1 lane, gravel road that twists up the mountain a bit, so be aware it takes about 15 minutes to get to the closest town. But from there you are a short drive to local attractions (Harrisonburg, Luray, Massanutten).

Over look loft is heaven!

I can’t say enough about how amazing this place is! We only left to get groceries and to go fishing other than that we stayed inside this cozy cabin snd enjoyed the views and nature! Deer come so close to the cabin every morning and night to eat the apples! The owner was amazing at contacting us and making sure we had all we needed. We brought some cooking things but found out we didn’t need to bring anything but our food! This place is amazing and we will be back again next year! Wish I could give this place 10 stars! The pictures are beautiful but do not do it justice!!
