Great location and house layout, but dirty below the surface; neglected
First red flag: this property is managed by a company, not a real person. Getting in touch with the host prior to our stay (to try to add on an extra day) was not possible - we could only get "policy" responses from the managing company VACASA. Fallout from lack of an actual homeowner's involvement carried over into the stay.
Property location is great, and looked clean upon arrival. Gradually we discovered the lack of attention to upkeep and maintenance. A partial list: mushed cherry tomatoes behind drawer in fridge, shells from a seafood dinner between the couch cushions (gross!), multiple knives in tray with grease all over them, all ping pong paddles were falling apart, mold on the shower grout, every single dinner plate was chipped, cupboards stuffed with renters' detritus, burned-out front lightbulb that we replaced ourselves... and more. So many, many things that pointed to not having a "real" host paying attention.
Why give this property even 3 stars? Because of the great location, the nice layout of the house, and because the cleaning crew did their checklist cleaning, making it "surface clean." The house just needs some serious attention from someone who cares.
