Dirty hotel no where near the loop

The hotel is 1/2 a mile from the green line and a full mile to the red line. The hotel was dirty including the "fresh" towels. Good luck on getting the room cleaned daily unless you are up at 9am - the maid service does not return once they have passed your room. The hotel ran out of pillows ... what hotel runs out of pillows? Don't trust the name of the hotel that it is close to the loop. It is NOT near ANYTHING!!!! No food, no convenience stores - nothing close by!! The vending machines were empty of product. Gift shop never opened the 5 days we were there.

Close to McCormick Place

Pros: The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Cons: It would be a plus to be able to get some kind of breakfast here.
Location: As already noted, the hotel is near to McCormick place. Chinatown is also nearby.
I've stayed here several times while attending a conference at McCormick Place. It's within walking distance of the convention center - about 20 minutes. Plus it's more reasonably priced than other options.

Comfortable

Enjoyed this low-key, unpretentious, clean, lovely, bright hotel. It is well-maintained, well-staffed, and welcoming, with a diverse guest population, friendly atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff. At first we were disappointed to find ourselves in the South Loop, which is not a cultural/tourist area, but it turned out well--refreshing and less expensive than being in the midst of the crowded North Loop/downtown area. Just be aware that it takes a bus or train or cab to get to those areas where the museums, Navy Pier, Millenial Park, etc. are, cultural attractions that can't be found in the south end of town. The hotel, however, is near Chinatown, which is worth seeing and has a lot of good restaurants, with very reasonable lunch specials. At first we were displeased to be away from the North end of town but in the end were actually glad. We would stay again and highly recommend this hotel, if the location works for you.

Good location, would stay again.

Pros: See above.
Cons: Nothing
Location: See above
The positive reviews I checked before making the reservation were correct. This is a nice quiet well maintained hotel just out of the congestion of others close to downtown hotels. The staff was most helpful. Parking is a plus. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Mine appeared to be recently remodeled. Large bathroom. I will stay there again.

Big city experience with small town pricing

Pros: Beds were very comfortable. Staff is wonderful. Free secure parking. Free internet. Very quite hotel.
Cons: More attention to detail by maintenance and housekeeping as to whether something needs to be fixed and if a room has been cleaned.
If you have ever spent time in Chicago you know that paying for parking can cost a small fortune. So a hotel that is close to the downtown Chicago with free, secure parking and internet is a God sent. The hotel is very quite and clean. The staff is outstanding. Very friendly and helpful. Lots of parking available in both a secure and unsecured lot. A small coffee shop is located in the hotel. So why not a "5" star rating across the board? On our second night we couldn't get back into the room. It was 11:30 pm at night. So back down to the front desk for another set of keys. They also didn't work. So back down again. The clerk gave me some hard candy and a $10 gift certificate to Walgreens for our troubles. Very nice of her. Back up to the room, still couldn't get in. Back down to the front desk. Now security came back up with us and they couldn't get in either. Long story short, an hour later we got into the room to discover that it also hadn't been cleaned. Fresh towels and coffee for the morning were immediately provided and without asking a 40% discount was applied to the cost of the room for the day. Sometimes things go wrong but the staff worked very hard to make it right for us. I would definitely stay there again.

Just say no ...

Upon arriving, the gentleman at the desk was very nice, gave us some information and our keys. We got into the room to find dirty, stained pillowcases and sheets, the elevator was broken so you had to use the service elevator with the cleaning staff's carts and the GARBAGE. Front desk guy told me to get to Navy Pier to take the bus that would pick us up across the street and the last stop was Navy Pier. We took his advice, and after an hour bus ride through the ghetto, we found out the bus did NOT go to Navy Pier at all. Then we had to get a different bus to get there and it took 2.5 hours. THEN my daughter left her glasses in the room. When we got home and I realized it, I called, they said they found them (they apparently weren't going to call me to tell me) and they would just charge my card the shipping cost to send them to me. Shipping cost according to FedEx was $11.57, they charged my card $44.97. NOT HAPPY.

Greetings Heather, Thank you for your review. It is disappointing to hear your experience with us was less than stellar. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with our lift being out of service. From your description of your travels on our city bus, it sounds like you stood on the wrong side of the street and took the bus going into the opposite direction. The 29 State Street bus' last stop heading north is definitely Navy Pier. When guest's provide their credit card information to have items shipped via FedEx, the hotel does not charge the guest. The information is provided directly to FedEx and they charge accordingly. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, so we can better serve our guests in the future.
