The front desk staff did not request identification—only my last name—before issuing a room key, which raised concerns regarding guest security. The room itself felt quite dated and is clearly in need of refurbishment. Additionally, both the sink and shower drained poorly, resulting in standing water after each use. While the carpet initially appeared clean, that impression quickly changed when I dropped an earring and had to search for it. In doing so, I found crumbs and debris on both sides of the bed, suggesting the room had not been thoroughly cleaned following the previous guest.

The Carleton has everything we require: nice, clean, roomy room. 2 good restaurants. A great bar. Free parking lot on site. Convenient to everything in Oak Park. Super nice staff!

This is a very old hotel and it seems not s whole lot has been done in many years to improve it. We only had housekeeping on one of 3 days; beds were uncomfortable and there was no comforter. We had to turn the heat up to be somewhat warm which made the air in the room dry. This hotel is in dire need of renovation
