While Vetro is a modern, upscale hotel, it’s starting to show it’s age. One of the curtains in the room was broken, furniture upholstery had some tears, a light fixture was pulling away from the bathroom mirror, and there was old urine on the underside of the toilet seat. Still a great spot, but could use some care and attention.

The hotel is nice and modern; however, the air conditioning unit in our room was very loud and disturbed our sleep when it would turn on. It would also be preferable to have parking covered vs. having to pay extra in the next door parking ramp.

The hotel cancelled our reservation!

I wish I could rate our stay at hotel vetro but upon check-in I was told our reservation had been cancelled. Now I NEVER placed any calls to cancel & Travelocity still had our reservation but for some reason the hotel itself took it upon themselves to ruin the start of our family trip. I spent quite some time to find what I thought would be a great getaway only to be pushed off on a nearby hotel which didn't seem to be comparable. What a disappointment! BTW did I mention my family gets away only one long weekend each year. Crummy deal!

Don't bother.

Pros: The design is actually fantastic
Cons: Better upkeep and better staff
No parking lot. You have to park yourself in a public lot half a block away, at $12/night. The design of the rooms is awesome, but stains and damage to everything. I went to eat in the provided mini-kitchen, and there were no utensils. So I went down to the desk to get a spoon, was told they weren't in the rooms because they were getting stolen, and two calls and an hour later, my spoon finally arrived.

Great addition to Iowa City!

Pros: Close restaurants, perfect location!
After living in the town for some time, it was nice to have another hotel downtown! Very classy, sleek, and modern. I appreciated the room for entertaining--even in a studio unit! A full kitchen, glass shower and deep whirlpool tub were all much more than we expected for the price. This will definitely be where we stay when we're in town from now on!

Wonderful in every way!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, nice room set up.
Very nice room set up studio apartment style with kitchen, large open bedroom and large bath. Modern style, concrete floors, maybe not for everyone, but definitely my aesthetic! Great service.

This place is LOUD.

Cons: Noisy, loud
Parking during check in is difficult to find and use, especially if arriving from the south. Signage should be better. Access to the lobby is terrible. I was stuck in the entry while waiting for someone at the desk to notice me, walk at a snails pace to the door some 50 feet away, and let me in. They really need some sort of intercom/buzz in system. The room itself was sleek and contemporary, and the bath was very nice. The noise coming for them street was horrendous though. We stayed on a Saturday night, mid-winter on the fourth floor with the windows tightly closed and we could hear bar patrons on the parkade talking and chatting as they walked by as clearly as if they were on the balcony outside. This went on until after 2am non-stop making it nearly impossible to sleep. We could also hear other guests in the hall as they arrived late back at their rooms, and could clearly hear every word spoken by the guests in the adjoining room. Service was fair and the staff, what little there was, was friendly, but for the noise reasons alone, I will never stay here again.
