The Inn was so quaint and unique, it really had the one of a kind mountain vibe that we were going for. The staff was absolutely wonderful. I was sad that our room did not have a tub but that just gives us another reason to go back and try a different room.

This was once a grand mountain hotel but not now

Pros: the fireplaces and log building
Cons: cleaner bathrooms and staff that was present would be helpful
Location: Boulder is about 20 minutes and Eldorado is about half and hour
You can see that this was a great place many years ago with large fireplaces and elk heads and log structure. The room was adequate but dated and not very clean. The staff is almost non-existent but pleasant enough when you can find someone. It is bit hard to find the entrance from the road and really scary exit due to high speed mountain traffic. It was not close enough to anything to recommend its location. It was a bit odd to return early evening to the room and not be able to find anyone there- the place was deserted by 9 PM.

Beautiful setting in the mountains

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
If you're looking for a beautiful, historic, rustic mountain inn, then this place is amazing! We chose this hotel vs. one in the city due to its location in the mountains and we're so glad we did. The owners and their staff were wonderful and very helpful with suggestions of where to go and what to see. Breakfast was amazing!! This was a wonderful place to relax on our vacation. We hope to come back again!

THE BEST accommodations

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
This it the most relaxing hotel in which my wife and I have ever stayed. Obviously, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was also exceptionally quiet (note: we had a mountain side room, the other side might get a little noise from the road outside, but I can't say for certain). There's a lot of charm and character in the building and furnishings which makes you feel farther away from the city than you are. Everything about the inn seems to be done with a lot of thought and consideration for the guests. There are also lots of cozy places to sit inside and outside of the hotel to relax and soak up the mountain atmosphere. Downtown Boulder is about a 5 minute drive and has lots of great restaurants (I recommend Walnut Brewery) as well as shopping. The inn is also close to the many many many trails that snake up and down the mountains. In summary, stay here. And wake up in time for the breakfast; it is delicious.

Warm, friendly, welcoming place to stay...and beautiful!

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
The Alps is my new favorite place to stay in Boulder. The breakfasts are delicious. Her scones are nothing short of fantastic. The rooms are pretty and comfortable. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. I am a runner, and the Boulder Canyon footpath is just a few feet down the canyon from The Alps driveway. The innkeepers are wonderful, even the dog and cat are friendly. Can't say enough good things about it!

Best Business Trip Ever

Absolute Luxury! I was on a business trip and needed a mid-range hotel close to the UC campus. I chose Alps rather than one of the dingy mid-range options in town. Wow! I am so glad I did. For an extra 5 minute drive through a lovely canyon park, I got a beautiful mountain lodge nestled into the side of a cliff; a lovely wooded area with a river across the street. The lobby area has an enormous stone fireplaces and a large, open, log-cabin feel, comfortable sitting area, with complementary coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies all day. The room itself was fully carpeted, very clean, nice bathroom and shower, with a solid, comfortable bed and cable TV (which was a little small, but had DVD and VCR as well) classically combined with antique style lamps and wooden wardrobe, desk, and boudoir. But on top of that, it had a mountain side porch and a beautiful working fireplace complete with easy-to-light log (not gas!). I have never been on a business trip where I could come back at night, sip hot chocolate in my room beside a real fire while I flipped channels, and then fall asleep to the light of the fire dancing on the walls. Then to top it off, there was a full, GOURMET breakfast the next morning in the beautiful dining area with yet another huge fireplace and a lovely deck for warmer days (not while I was there!). I can?t wait for my next business trip (vacation?!) to Boulder! Ten stars!

Lovely, relaxing B&B

We stayed in the Magnolia Suite which has a working fireplace jacuzzi. The bed was so comfortable that I am looking into buying the mattress for my home. The attention to details was apparent with walk though of the facility and room features at check in. Fresch oatmeal rasin cookies and hot tea and coffee are available 24 hours per day in the lobby which has a fireplace and comfortable lounge furniture. The staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. I will likely stay here again if vacationing in Boulder. Although the Inn is located in the mountains, driving to Pearl Street Mall and other central locations took 10-15 minutes (the roads were free of snow during our stay). For business I might consider staying elsewhere as the Inn's mountain location prevents cell and wireless internet connection; I was unaware of this until informed during check in. The Inn does allow nation wide phone calls at no charge. Also note, the Inn is located directly off of Boulder Canyon Drive which cuts through the mountains and the locals have a way of zipping along such mountain roads at speeds that are a bit intimidating for visitors (I'm a Denver native and graduate of CU Boulder and still felt a bit weary when followed by a local). It felt as though we were making a mad dash to turn onto the driveway of the inn and another mad dash when leaving -- timid drivers beware. Overall, it's a wonderful find!
