A very nice hotel and very affordable

We would definitely come back to this one and recommend it to friends. Very close to bus stops that links toward the Vatican and the staff are very helpful.

Local charm

A family run hotel with "local charm" for those who don't mind an "Italian" experience with its typical quirks. Fantastic pool, and also great kids pool. Rooms are truly old fashioned but good size with balcony.

4 star hotel but needs to read the guest comments

I stayed at 13 hotels in Italy an Swiss during 4 weeks vacation period with my family. This hotel got the lowest score from family rating on the hotels we stayed.

A ways out of town...

Shanga La Corsetti is a pleasant hotel located 20+ minutes from downtown Rome. About 1 mile walk to nearest Metro. About $25 US cab to center city. Both in-house restaurants were closed Sunday, nearest option was a food truck at a gas station two blocks away. Pool closes at 6:30pm of no use to returning tourists. AC was marginal, bed was OK. Rooms are clean and neat. 30 minutes to FCO and about the same to downtown.

Old hotel

Hotel is considered a 4 star but not by standards. It is an old hotel. It has its charm but needs update. The room that we reserved was a no smoking room but it reeked so much of smoke. We requested another room and fortunately they provided us with a replacement. Not enough amenities. The hotel is far from the tourist spots, you can access it by metro and bus. I stayed in this hotel because my wife participated on the half marathon and the hotel is closed to the start area. Buffet breakfast was limited. Not enough staff to handle the amount of people and not enough food served.

Beautiful and romantic stay

Pleasantly surprised. Although the hotel is aged, it is a beautiful and charming hotel. Reminded me of a resort hotel in Hawaii with furnishings and garden. Had excellent pizza at restaurant. Close (10 min) walk to stadium. I would definitely stay here again.

Shangri La - Not heaven, but good enough

Reasonably priced, and a 10 minute walk from the Fermi Metro station - taking cabs into town will be expensive if you are staying for more than a couple of days. My room was in the garden annex, and there was a lot of traffic noise from 6am to 11pm. Clean, tidy and reasonably modern room, breakfast was limited to cereal, bread, cheese, ham and a selection of sweet cake. The only hot choice was a giant tray of scrambled egg, which appeared to be as old as the Colosseum. The onsite restaurant was expensive, the food was lackluster and the staff ignorant of you are not Italian. Allowing smoking inside the restaurant is unacceptable, but the Italians don't appear to care. Reasonable value for money - it was good enough for a business stay, but I'm not sure that my family would have been so happy.

What a dump!

Hotel is in need of an overhaul. The toilet seat was broken, the air conditioning did not work well enough to cool the room, and the staff said all rooms had the same issue. They gave us a fan but it was so noisy it kept us up all night. The neighborhood is very sketchy with prostitutes working in the evening and homeless people sleeping on bench across the street from the hotel. It was so bad we left after one night, even though Expedia charged us for 5 nights. This is the last time I will ever book anything through Expedia.

Rome hotel

Dated, worn out, noisy, breakfast was terrible and my air conditioning didn't work. Rooms were large and clean. Not great. The area doesn't look great but to be fair we didn't have time to go out. The restaurant is horrendously expensive and quality doubtful. Not recommended.

Good for business

I have stayed here 20 times over the last 10 years, it's good for business but quite a distance from the centre if you are on holiday. Nice pool area and very good restaurant for dinner and nice breakfast, really nice shopping centre 10 mins walk away. Staff have always been very nice. Will stay again.

A little dated, but good value

I chose this hotel based on location as I had to be in the area on business. Whilst the decor is a little dated, and would benefit greatly from a refit, it was good value for money. The restaurant was a little pricey though.

Our hotel in Rome

We have stayed at the Shangri La Corsetti 4 or 5 times. Not liking to drive in Rome we leave the car here as it has good parking available and get a taxi in & out. It is also very close to the GRA (ring road around Rome) and airports . It has a number of different parts and rooms vary, many have an inner door in the bedroom so passers-by never disturb. Rooms at the front of the hotel can suffer from traffic noise but rooms towards the back are quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Old fashioned charm far outside tourist area

This hotel smacks of a bygone era. Forty years ago, one imagines, it was crazy glamorous. It is no longer four star by American standards... The beds are hard and the sheets scratchy, but it had many plus sides. Arrival from the airport was difficult as we had to take a cab and our cabbie drove us well out of the way and the ride was very expensive. Our room was enormous and we had a private patio, which was great as we put our seven year old to bed and sat out there. Breakfast was nice and the restaurant with the hotel was fantastic and very reasonable for Rome. The biggest downside was the distance from historical sights and it only worked for us because we came back early at night to put our child to bed. I would not have felt safe walking from the Metro to the hotel later at night.
