Our stay at the Clayton Hotel Amsterdam was wonderful. They did me a solid with a very nice upgrade to a suite and it made the trip even better. The hotel is right in the center of everything with great rates, excellent dining and bar options, and an unbeatable location. The room was spacious with amazing views. We will definitely stay here again.

What really stood out during my stay was the exceptional staff. Their friendliness and attentiveness made a huge difference in my experience. We contacted reception as there was extremely loud music playing from somewhere. The staff came to our room with ear plugs and said there was a function in one of their rooms until midnight but they would try to get the music turned down. This did not happen. The same happened the second night. I had made staff aware I was pregnant but they stated we had ear plugs provided. I also made staff aware of the noise when checking out but they did not comment. Also we paid for a delux room. The room itself was nice but our view was air conditioning units so I do not understand how they can state it was a deluxe room. Hotel is in a great location but I am disappointed at the lack care and compassion given when we complained

I was honestly very disappointed. I have no idea how this hotel has four stars. Let me start with the positives: the location was excellent, and the customer service was perfectly fine. No complaints there. This trip was our first time visiting the Netherlands, and we were traveling with my family as well as my in-laws. To be honest, I felt embarrassed that I had chosen this hotel for our first night. First of all, the building is old—whether it has “charm” is debatable. We arrived early in the morning, and the moment I saw the entrance, my impression was terrible. “Wait… this can’t be the place, right?” The lobby didn’t help either. The floors looked worn and dull, and there were old-looking single chairs with equally tired-looking cushions. That bad feeling I had was spot on. The room was awful. It was a long, narrow space, and the bed took up almost the entire width of the room, leaving barely enough space for one person to squeeze by sideways to reach the window. Needless to say, the view was terrible. On top of that, the room was cold. There was a heater by the window, but it was so chilly that my parents ended up asking for an extra heater. Is that normal for European hotels? Honestly, I’ve never stayed in a hotel where the room felt this cold. It seemed like many people were staying there, but I wonder if they were actually satisfied. I chose this place because it had good reviews, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I’m never coming back.
