large old hotel

Pros: Staff was great. pools were very nice.
Cons: amenities in the room should be added. Only one comfortable chair and two kitchen type chairs.
Location: On the very edge of the strip. Hard to walk anywhere. Need to take taxi's or busses.
room amenities were lacking. No coffee available in room. Had to rent a refrigerator, charged extra for refreshments. Were supposed to keep it full, never happened. Microwaves were not available. Staff was very nice. Room was huge!

I found an small cocorach on the restaurant walking on the wall near to my table. A lot of Mosquitoes in reception. Overpriced

Good, but with issues

Pros: The hotel staff is very knowledgeable about everything Acapulco. That was very helpful in doing stuff with our limited time there.
Cons: Consistency with room service. While delicious, the dish that myself, or one of the people I was with had differences each time it was ordered.
Location: You can go straight form Hotel Property to the beach. As far as local events, the hotel staff can let you know what is out there.
So the hotel itself when we got into the room was very clean, the view is amazing. Also the fact that it is right on the beach is also a huge plus. a HUGE plus was the front staff was VERY knowledgeable about things going on in town and we had some questions about bus tickets and they were able to send us exactly where we needed to be. That said, there were some things that I think should be worked on. 1) My room had a small leak from one of the 2 sinks in the bathroom. They knew about it because before we even saw it a repair person came to our room to fix it, but was unable to so one of our sinks had only hot water. I feel that known issues should be addressed before a guest is sent to the room. 2) Room service- one of the meals (we had 3 room service meals) it did take the a while to retrieve the table after we called. Also one dish I ordered 3 times, and the plate had 3 different variations of sides with the main dish, so I would like to see more consistency. With that said, each variation was delicious, and the food was very well prepared with nice presentation. 3) The room was with our children, and while the shower and toilet had their own doors, the main part of the bathroom was separated by the rest of the room by a mirror with a decorative border that was not solid so you could see through to where people dressed/undressed and probably isn't suitable for a family or people who you aren't comfortable seeing you dress/undress.

Not what we expected.

Pros: It was clean. A travel person in the hotel was the only person there who went beyond what would normally be expected and helped greatly.
Cons: See above in experience.
Location: There were a few restaurants nearby, but required pesos. We did take a historical tour and saw cliff divers. We enjoyed this very much.
We were unable to exchange money needed to eat and shop because the hotel did not have enough to exchange anymore than $50 in US for pesos which was necessary for everything. This happened not only more than once, but daily and made it difficult to do anything. The hotel had 2 restaurants (requiring pesos) and were unable to help us. Being a diabetic, this made our visit very dangerous (health wise). We We walked even though I am disabled. Very few employees spoke any English and did not seem interested in communicating. When asked to see our billing account, we were refused.

Fantastic views and setting

Pros: Free breakfast
The setting was fantastic and service was awesome. We had no safety concerns or issues. If we return to Acapulco we would definitely stay here again.

Wedding disasters turned PERFECT due to outstanding service :)

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Stayed at this hotel for a close friend's wedding. The week was full of problems including uncommonly rainy weather. The concierge service really helped w/planning & last minute details. The conclusion turned out to be a PERFECT Beach reception @ the Grand Hotel Acapulco. (My friend cried because she never wanted it to end!!!) Other details: Walmart within walking distance w/ATMs inside Bus ride 5 pesos -- Busses are locally colorful, no designated stops; just stand on the street where the driver can see you (Be careful traffic is dangerous!!!) Plenty of restaurants, bars & shopping within walking distance Hotel anemities included a balcony off each room, pool, bar, restaurant, jewelry shop, small convenience store & a computer room (fee for usage) Items to Bring: Sunscreen, I was in the pool 10 min. and burned Something for upset stomach, almost everyone in the wedding party had stomach issues

Room was bare, but clean

The hotel has nice facilities. Hotel room was clean, but bare. TV was old and had bad picture quality. But we were there to enjoy Acapulco, not watch TV. The hotel showed signs of its age, but overall was nice.
