"Easy access to trains and metro in Rom"
I stayed here twice on my trip to rome due to its proximity to rail transportation and comfort. It is definately not in the midst of the Roman sites; however, there are two metro stops within 3 blocks, one of them also being the main train station. The room was very comfortable and the staff was helpful. I would definately stay here again.

"Just what the doctor ordered"
I travelled to Italy last August with about 25 people for my best friend's wedding on the Amalfi coast. Experience of a lifetime. After spending 8 nights on the coast taking in the most beautiful scenary and eating and drinking the best food and wine you could imagine, most of us decided to stay two nights in Rome on the back end of the trip. The group had booked at two separate hotels. Six of us were at the Albergo del Senato and the rest were at a more value-type hotel around the block. I knew when I booked at Albergo I would be paying a decent amount more than the others traveling with us but I had a feeling that hotels in and around Amalfi would be very beach oriented and amenities like air conditioning could be scarce. I wanted comfort towards the end of the trip. Air conditioning in August in Italy is a must. So I was willing to pay a little more to secure that feeling. The price was worth it. Upon check-in some from the other group even attempted to change from the other hotel to Albergo. I believe Albergo had recently gone through significant renovations. You could tell the guestroom I shared with a close friend had gone through modernization. It was very stylish, from the flat panel TV, to the furniture, to the bathroom. And yes, the AC was blasting every night!! The only drawback was that the room was very small. However, we did not spend much time in the room so really wasn't an issue. And you expect a small room when travelling from the States to Europe. Oddly, our room in Amalfi was the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in, but no AC. So I'll take the smaller room with a good AC to ensure a comfortable night's sleep anyday of the week. Of course, the location of Albergo del Senato is second to none. The Pantheon is literally on your front steps at the hotel. See attached photo taken by me standing outside Albergo del Senato. Like something out of a postcard. The square out front is lively daytime and night. I've pointed out the Albergo to family while watching the film Angels and Demons. If I ever make it back to Rome, and I hope I do, I would definitely consider staying at the Albego del Senato again. No question I would recommend it as well.
