I didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that. There is a bar area. Food menu looks ok. I found all the staff friendly , courteous and helpful. I had a standard double room overlooking the main street & castle wall. Mattress was comfortable, not sagging. The room was clean, well laid out & spacious. Plenty of sockets. Decor was simple with clean lines. Black & white prints of drawings , I assume of the city, decorating the walls were a nice touch. The windows had secondary glazing to help minimise general noise from the street; hotel can provide earplugs if necessary Cardiff city central area is known to be a party place & is always busy at weekends. Clear instructions provided about sorting own rubbish in the room to comply with Welsh legislation for all businesses. The bathroom - bath/ shower- was also spacious & very clean. Toiletries provided. However , long term, the hotel could be more eco by not offering individual products. Minor quibble- lead for the kettle was too short for the nearest socket to the beverage area so I had to move it. Entrance to the hotel is clear & uncluttered. Automatic front door is helpful. A coffee machine is in the reception area £.Free water is also provided. All in all a positive experience. I would recommend The Angel Hotel."
