Stairs only**** Keep in mind the hotel is in a small street. Very loud and not sound proof as we hear loud birds since 5-6am in the morning. Staff are nice and helpful. Check in and out is very smooth. It is older and some furniture seem old. Room is fairly clean but the floors are carpet. Slippers provided.

Cosy hotel

A cute little hotel close to Shin-Okubo station, a bit hidden off of the main street. The staff was lovely and the room was small but nice. Perfect for a solo traveler. I came there a bit early but it was no problem leaving my luggage so I could do something else, then when I checked in later they had already carried it up to the room for me.

The property was very pretty, and had kind staff! Perfectly located if you want to spend the night out in Shinjuku, but don’t want to wait until 5am for the trains to open! Our room was right below a smoking room so we smelt it a little but, but that’s expected in Tokyo. All in all very worth it and a great place to stay.

Very small room for two people, but would've been great for 1 person. Not much room to open suitcases, so don't bring too much. The staff was very friendly and spoke enough English, and signage is good. Location is amazing, literally right next to the shrine.

Matsunoi is the middle of Shin-Okubo section of Shinjuku - it's a crowded, busy neighborhood. The hotel is tucked on a side street, a short walk from the Yamanote line station, but I was never bothered by any noise from the neighborhood. The room is small (expected), but clean and contemporary. An easy stay. Restaurant downstairs is great too!
