Ashford Hotel & Travel Guide
Ashford is a town in Kent, a county in the southeast of the U.K. approximately 60 miles from central London. It has a rich heritage as a market town ever since the 13th century, and today has a historic railway hub that is notable for its international Eurostar station offering a direct rail link to Paris. The beautiful North Downs, an adjacent stretch of chalk hills, dramatic coastal cliffs, and ancient woodlands, adds to the appeal of hotels near Ashford.
Visiting Ashford
The closest airport to Ashford hotels is London Southend, an approximately 68-mile drive away. One car rental company based at the airport gives you the option to drive yourself to Ashford. Other choices include taxis and trains. If you want to use trains, start at the Southend Airport railway station and change at Stratford International station in east London. Consider stopping to see some of the sights of London on your way to Ashford and perhaps booking London hotels for the night to make the most of your time in the U.K. When you get to Ashford, visit local attractions like the Ashford Borough Museum, which is housed in a 17th-century building and is open from April to late October. The museum highlights the history of the town and features an interesting World War I exhibit. A designer outlet mall just outside of town offers more than 120 stores and is a very popular destination. Also be sure to see Ashford's most notable historic landmark, St. Mary's parish church. The church was built mostly during the 15th century but has sections dating as far back as the 13th century. On sunny days, explore the Ashford Green Corridor, a nature reserve along two rivers. With rental cars in Ashford, you can also visit nearby attractions such as Canterbury Cathedral and the White Cliffs of Dover.
If you're looking for flights as well as Ashford London hotels, bundle both together for the greatest savings. With Travelocity, you can save up to $537 when you book a hotel and flight at the same time.
