I really enjoyed staying at the Old Quarter Hotel—the staff was friendly & helpful, the room overlooking the canal had great proportions & light. I was able to get everywhere on foot or on short tram rides from Amsterdam Centraal a few minutes away. I would book the same room again in a heartbeat!

This is a perfectly adequate budget hotel. Was exactly what we'd expected, a bed in a central location. Like many of the older buildings in Amsterdam's centre it has a lot of very steep stairs, but again, as we expected. Soundproofing wasn't great, so the room was very noisy from general bustle in the street - they do have simple ear plugs available at reception at a very marked up price. Would recommend bringing your own. Having now moved to a different hotel a stones throw away at a comparable price but a HUGE step up in quality and services I would say it was a bit overpriced. I'd go somewhere else if the option is available to you.

A good yet interesting stay.

This Hotel was interesting. It is a pub/cafe/hotel, and you check in at the bar. The whole experience was fine yet odd. After check in the real oddity begins. The STAIRWAYS were an adventure to say the least. Big boned Americans will find them difficult to manage to say the least. Room was sparse there was three twin mattresses and a tiny tv, but really how long do you plan on staying in room. The room was clean. I was there with my teenage boys and it was fine. If I was traveling with my wife and daughter we would have made different arrangements. Solo traveling or boys trip it is a fine establishment.

The stairs were a definite “UPgrade. A bit ridiculous and dangerous if you had luggage. Felt like we were on a mountain climb. There should be no problem leaving a key in the room when checkout but back up the stairs to retrieve the key.. Very unfriendly checkout. Would never stay again.

I suppose it depends on what type of experience you are seeking, but for me I found this area way too busy, noisy, and just generally overrun. The hotels had several steep and narrow stairways to ascend to get to my room, which wasn’t ideal with heavy luggage. There was noise from parties until the early morning soon after the street sweepers and delivery trucks would start working. WiFi was very weak, the bed wasn’t comfortable. The staff were lovely. Overall, I would not stay here again nor anywhere near this area.

Location: in the middle of everything that makes Amsterdam….Amsterdam. It’s can be noisy depending on what side of the hotel your room is located. Street side is loud. Canal side is quiet. Room: basic but the rooms have everything you need. Europe is not known for large rooms. Beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are small. Staff: fantastic. Don’t forget to say high to the boss cat. Food and beverage: The hotel offers a breakfast and full bar. There are also limitless options on the street in front of the hotel.

Good location walk distance to central station to access everywhere easily. Unavoidably noisy surroundings with busy streets in central location. Old buildings with spiral & steep stairways with extra caution. Overall is ok to stays for few nights.

Fantastic

This was one of my favorite hotels in all of Europe. Super close to Amsterdam central, a block from the red light district, and we even had a canal view. When we arrived we decided to pay $20 for an upgrade and it was the best decision we could ever have made. The room is basic, but clean. The view and location is unbeatable.

Location location location! This is a basic hotel located right in the centre of Amsterdam and close to the red light district. It offers a limited buffet breakfast that was good for the money. There is a good variety of restaurants right at the door.
