We showed up at 11:15pm after a 6 hour drive from Maine and were told the hotel overbooked and did not have any rooms available for us. We had no warning, no email, or courtesy call this was to happen and were very upset after a long drive. They had called a hotel nearby to ensure we had a room for the night and sent us there, although they only held one night and we had been booked for two nights at Home2 Suites and the new hotel was sold out for our second planned nights stay. When we showed up at the new hotel, there was no information on us and just that they had a call to hold a room for that night for me under my name and they tried to charge us their nightly fee for more than I had reserved via Travelocity for the other hotel. Thankfully they had a cancellation the next day so we had a room for the second night because the entire city of Utica was sold out. Our experience at the new hotel was horrible the first night with the front desk clerk coding our room key wrong then disappearing from the front office for half hour at midnight and we couldn't get into our room for about 40 minutes. Needless to say we were very irritated at Home2 Suites and will never plan a stay there again from this experience, as well as the hotel they sent us to which was the Holiday Inn express in Utica.
