"We enjoyed the cleanliness of the bed and bathroom. It seemed that the floor may not have been swept, but it looked clean, just picked up debris on my feet. There were some amenities outside the room, but we did not need to use them. The bathroom was roomy and shower was good. AC was good. There is a little balcony where you have a nice view, but we didn't use it because it was so hot the days we were there. Note that you need to make arrangements for late check in. That process was easy (even though we forgot to make arrangements ahead.) We have not experienced any other hotels/rooms in Rome, so I assume the affordable ones are the same as Excellence Suites. There is not a comfortable lobby, or anywhere to really relax away from the heat and humidity. This was a bit of a surprise. The photos looked nice, but the entrance was just a large old door in the alleyway, with narrow hallways and a small outside sitting area (called a garden I believe). Also, note that if you need to keep stuff cool in the fridge, in Europe it seems that the hotels turn off all AC and electricity while you're away. In review, the room was cool, clean and small, and it was a great place to sleep and shower. The street felt a little sketchy at first, but it seems that there are alot of people walking around safely. We would recommend it to people on a budget, and who appreciate cleanliness."
