The hotel was outdated, the room carpet was old and had a bald patch. My credit card was charged for incidental without any explanation. I had to call the hotel billing and was later informed it was for overnight parking. However, no one even asked if I drove a car or taken any information regarding make of my car or license plate number upon check in.

We waited 45 minutes for someone to check us in at the front desk. Rooms did not match the photos on the website (they must of been taken when the hotel FIRST opened). The rooms are in complete disarray, dirty and in heavy need of renovation. We ended up switching from the first room because the shower head was broken, the toilet had low flushing pressure, and the TV didn't work. I understand the "get what you pay for" mentality, but I would expect this from a motel not a hotel, especially not a quality inn. The staff member who took care of us was friendly and did her absolute best to work with what she had, so I want to emphasize we did not have any problems with her but the way the entire place is run. A $100 deposit on a room where everything is dirty, broken, patches and rundown is absolutely ridiculous. What's left to break? Would absolutely recommend finding a different hotel.

We were driving 8 hours to Springfield after a 12 hour work day. I knew we wouldn’t be arriving until late, so I called the hotel to give them a heads up that we would still be coming and asked them to please not give away the king bed room we reserved. The kind woman on the phone said it would be no problem and she would make note in my account for the next person coming in. When we arrived at 2:42am to check-in, the young man at the front desk said we could not check in. He said “the system already reset for the night” and there was nothing he could do to help us until it rebooted the next morning. I asked him what his suggestion for us was, as we only had 4 hours at this point to get some sleep before an 8am meeting. He suggested we wait in the lobby until morning or find another hotel. So that’s exactly what we did - found (and had to pay) for another hotel down the street. I asked if I could atleast be refunded and he also claimed he was unable to do that due to the computer shut down. I have loyally been staying at university plaza for years. My parents got married there. After this experience, and the lack of help or compassion I received from the young gentleman working, I am not sure I’ll be going back. He could have called and asked our ETA. He could have gone ahead and activated room keys knowing we were still coming (since I called and gave a heads up). Instead he said “there was nothing he could do for us”. Very disappointing.
