Ckin went smoothly. Outside parking was dark & I observed sketchy people roaming nearby. I was struggling to carry my things in & find my room - first attempt… I was distracted by unsafe feelings & tripped going up onto the sidewalk falling “hard” but flat onto the (long over due to be rebarked) planter on my way to the Kent side entrance of the hotel. My head & shoulder barely missed the curb between my car and that spot of fine bark - so no cushion. Once I did a personal assessment -I gathered myself and my things back into my car & frustrated. I drove back to the lobby…Hoping for a new approach… Night clerk -was NEW & unfamiliar with the layout of the hotel.
Since a building map was NOT AVAILABLE, the front desk clerk suggested I could go to my room & turn on the lights-opening the curtains so I could be sure I was parking where I could keep an eye on my car)… That was a great idea! Then, I discovered, the rooms - at least that side of the hotel weren’t numbered in order. My room #108 was btwn #106 & #114! So, no wonder’s the young night checkin clerk couldn’t tell me “WHERE my room was”) Lights on in room/cart by
side entrance - I returned to the lobby/drove my car back around & parked by my room. By then, I was extra tired & in pain from that shockingly frustrating fall… I retrieved my things with the cart & was able to settle into my room over an hour after checkin! Room was clean & would’ve been comfortable. Didn’t sleep well-head, neck, back, hips leg pa…CkOut-fine.
