Less than average - beware
My husband and I stayed at Sycamore Suites in Elyria while dropping our son at nearby Oberlin College, and attending some parents events. The hotel is old and would need upkeeping but in overall decent conditions at a first sight.
However, we soon discovered that our room smelled of cigarette smoke and beds were not too comfortable. Since we had driven for many hours, we informed the reception the following morning. The staff is kind and accommodating, only good point of this hotel, in my opinion. They moved us to another room on the opposite side of the hotel: while our first room looked into the front of the building and the parking lot, the second room overlooked a large backyard that was filled with debris and garbage. I even counted a broken toilet and several other bathroom debris right outside of our window! The last night of our stay, a strong smell of marijuana started seeping through our room door at around 11pm. We called the front desk and we were advised to place a towel at the bottom of the door! To be fair, they also offered to move us yet again to another room but it was very late and we were slated to leave the next morning anyway.
I was reluctant to leave a negative review because the staff is made up of decent people but - if you check this hotel price for, say, Spring 2026 - it would be very expensive and this place is definitively not worth $400 a night!
