Wonderful Boutique Hotel!

Pros: The internet access, tv reception, lovely swimming pool on the roof all made for a pleasant stay
Cons: We would have liked it if there were drinks served poolside, or in the small patio on the roof---but other than that, we were totally satisfied.
Location: The location is very central to the Malecon (beachside walkway) and dozens of great restaurants.
My wife and I have stayed at the Los Arcos Suites, but this was the first time we stayed in its sister hotel, Casa Susana. It was one of the most restful and comfortable vacations we have had in more than 50 years of travelling. The room was kept spotless by the efficient maids, who even washed the dishes for our kitchenette. Bonifacio, the extremely gracious and hospitable supervisor of both the Suites and Casa Susana, was always available for information, and made sure that the guests were happy.

Would go back

Pros: The warmth and charm as well as the customer service provided by all of the staff.
Cons: We were satisfied with everything but having a double room when we paid for a King
Location: The streets are busy with shops, places to eat, people watching. Great cultural immersion. Eighty percent Americans and Canadians. Very Safe.
The hotel is very charming and situated right in the heart of things. It is very clean and well maintained. The staff and the service is top notch. We were brought to our room and found that the air conditioner did not work nor did the safe. We mentioned it to the front desk and they immediately moved us to another room. The unfortunate thing was that we had reserved a room with a King bed and we were given a room with 2 double beds, for a week. Because we were staying a week they said they did not a have a room that size for a week.

PV

Pros: Location. Cleanliness. Staff. You have access to amenities at Playa Los Arcos (Beach chairs and umbrellas), and Los Arcos Suites (pool). All adult
Cons: Reservation system and honoring requests and having rooms available.
Have been staying here many years. Great tourist class hotel. All adult. Clean. Nice staff. Beware (1) Current construction of new project right next door makes it noisy at the pool and in your room depending on room location; and, (2) Make sure you confirm your reservation before arrival with the hotel directly (get their name). I experienced last year and talked to several people this year, who arrived and found the hotel did not have their reservation or had no rooms. This could be especially troubling in peak season.

Nice calm place in a vibrant neighborhood.

Pros: Great location ... one short block off busy street, two short blocks from the sand. Small pool but good for cooling & reading.
Cons: Refrigerator in room would be great improvement.
Location: Many really good and friendly restaurants. Shopping, massage, parasail & bouncing boat rides. Beach is nice sand but turns to rocks in the surf.
Nice beach with many good restaurants - try Freddy's Toucan for breakfast and Margraritagrill for lunch or dinner. Many of the oceanside restaurants are good and we found some good luck with some of the masseusses. Pretty muggy in October but efficient a/c in room.

Good value for the money but...

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, very comfortable bed
Cons: Noisy, totally dependent from sister hotel
I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. I have to say the location is great, walking distance to the malecon and the beach is across the street. Hotel Dona Susana is part of a group of three hotels and unfortunately the least organized of the three. Phone calls go through the Los Arcos Hotel, consequentially you never get messages if somebody calls you from outside. I prepaid my transportation from the airport online (it was organized by Los Arcos), but no one was there to pick me up. After waiting a while I called the hotel and I was transfered to Los Arcos. The girl in charge of the reservation explained to me she was off the day I made the reservation and that's why it was overlooked. Upon checking out they wanted me to pay again for it, but I showed them the paypal receipt. Of course a phone call had to be made to Los Arcos to get approval to take that off my bill and then I had to wait 15 minutes for them to go make a copy, since Dona Susana doesn't have a copier machine onsite. I chose this hotel because it is an adults-only and I was hoping to get a little peace. My room was on the third floor. I couldn't sleep past 8:15 every morning because that's when the cleaning staff started sweeping the terrace above me. The cleaning ladies on the different floors would talk loud to each other (the hotel has a courtyard with a staircase in the middle so you can see and hear people from any rooms#. If it wasn't the lively talking of the ladies, I would be waken up by not very pleasant frying smells that would reach my room through the bathroom window. Closing the bathroom door at night #the window couldn't be fully shut) would help a little. I am not sure if rooms acroos the courtyard are reached by the cooking fragances as well. They seemed to be more spacious though. Not sure if I would stay at this hotel again.

I can highly recommend the Casa Dona Susana hotel to anyone.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Beautifully designed spanish-colonial interior. A nice-touch decorations. Quiet and at the same time, located just one short block from the main (small) street with many restaurants, cafeterias, shops, news stands, beach and etc. We are definitely coming back this summer to Casa Dona Susana.

Check out floorplan carefully before you book.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy, not in great repair
This hotel is very close to bars and clubs with loud music, not quiet as we expected. We asked for a balcony and got an upgrade to a Jr suite right over the main entrance. Jr suites were supposed to have a kitchenette and a king size bed. We got neither, but since it had a balcony we had to pay the Jr suite price. The hotel manager was unable to find another Jr suite for us or reduce the price but we got comped a buffet dinner for two.
