An okay stay.

We arrived at 8am on April 16 in hopes there maybe an early check in. Sadly not, so we left our bags at front desk and went to explore a bit after a long flight and a bit tired. We were told by Arseny our room would be ready anytime between noon and 3pm. We pre paid for a balcony room. We came back to the hotel at 1pm and it still wasn't ready and waited another hour. We explained we'd been traveling for 24 hrs and would appreciate a room to check in as now we were exhausted. At 2.30pm, a balcony room was given to us however.......... when we went up to the room on the 5th floor and scanned our room key, two of your guests were already occupying the room, naked in bed. It was very embarrassing, at this point we were even more exhausted and just wanted a room to check in... We now had to go back down to the front desk and we explained everything to Arseny at front desk and then he finally got us room 402 around 3pm however it was not a balcony. Another incident- is that we asked for shower gel and only got it 2 days later after asking again as we were completely out. Luckily Arseny had some at the front desk. The location was great as well as your staff- after talks with management, they gave us a 15% discount.. woo hoo????

Hotel was nice (basically down the block from Gare du Nord), room was cozy, bathroom was clean, the breakfast was good as well. Only issue is, I paid extra up front when booking via Expedia for the breakfast option, which increased my price for 1 night from $144 to $151 I believe, and I was informed I had to pay a city tax of 5.53 euros upon check in, which is fine. But when I arrived I was told I had to pay for the breakfast option as well, meaning I got charged like 12 euros instead. Not sure for the reason of the double charge, but that's something I'm not happy with.

While the hotel is trying to be eco friendly, it's the first time I had a hotel room where the hand soap and shower gel dispensers were empty. While yes it's easy to call to ask for it to be filled but we checked in late and had to head back out for dinner so didn't have time to ask. Lucky we had our own to use. It's just really inconvenient and I don't understand how not filling them is being eco friendly. The location is great as it's close to the train station to get to CDG airport. There are a lot of low cost dining options ( ie. fast food) but it's a little noisier given the train station and traffic outside but we knew that before booking. We just wanted to be close to the train station for the flight home.

Like most 2- or 3-star hotels in Paris, the space was relatively small—from the room and bathroom to the elevator and beds. It was spring, but the weather was already quite warm, and unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn’t operating yet. We had to keep the window open, which let in a lot of outside noise. Still, after long days of walking, we managed to get some rest. Paris is an expensive city overall, so the price we paid felt fair enough for what we got.

First room: no hot water. Second room: no electricity. The soundproofing is nonexistent. You can see daylight through some doors and easily follow conversations from next door. Better soundproofing of the doors and windows would surely help. Both our keycards had to be reprogrammed several times during the stay. An annoiance that could have been avoided. Judging from the wear and tear of the keycards, they are just tired. No, we did not have our phones and keycards in the same pockets. On the last night of our stay, no running water from 17:30 to our departure the following morning at 10 a.m. Apologies from staff but they did not give us access to another room with water. Was not even offered a bottle of water or any comp. We left for the airport and then a 7.5H flight without a shower. No management on-site Saturday morning when we left, so I filed the written complaint form. 5 days later, I have not heard back from Hotel Management. I stayed at the property 3 times in the last 2 years. But given the issues on this trip and the lack of response from management, it's my last stay at Avalon or Avalon Cosy.

Great location, walking distance to Montmartre and Gare du Nord. Near many forms of public transportation making it easy to get to some of the main attractions. Room was spacious and hotel offers shuttle to airport at a great rate. Area is noisy, didn’t bother us, so be careful if your a light sleeper. I would stay here again..
