Mixed Feelings
The property is well located in Palm Springs and the unit is convenient to both the gate and pool. Despite being advertised as fully renovated, there were several deficiencies:
- Welcome mat at the front door is dirty and should be replaced
- big stains on living room carpet (rolled it up and put it behind couch)
- the hinges on several cupboard doors were loose and they didn't shut properly, with a kitchen door falling off (no tools in unit to fix it)
- Sliding glass door to patio didn't lock and a broom stick was required to be moved every time to open or close door
- There was no Property Book in the unit on arrival and we couldn't get the TV to work. After getting a copy of the Property Book, the remote outlined in it was different than the remote in the unit, hence we had problems with the TV for the full 6 weeks we were there.
- There's a jacaronda tree losing its blossoms/flowers outside the fence by the patio and we had to sweep the patio 2 - 3 times a day and also wipe down the frurniture, as on more than one occasion we had to wash out stains from our clothes from sitting down.
On the positive side, Sergio (Maintanance) assisted us on three different occasions with the TV and the cupboards and was a valuable resource for us.
We've been renting in Palm Springs for almost 20 years and this was the first time we ended up dealing with a company (McLean) instead of the actual owner. While there, we were advised Poppy had acquired McLean, but other than apologies and promises to do better, there was no offers &/or incentives to compensate us for the inconvenience. Needless to say, we will deal with owners in the future versus a management company. In fact, before leaving the desert we met an owner, viewed his property and booked it next year through VRBO.
