Decent value and friendly for NYC

Pros: Great bed, room was well-equipped, quite pleasant staff all around, convenient if not beautiful location, price pretty competitive for NYC
Cons: Get the renovations done and control the smells, THEN put people in the rooms on those floors; otherwise don't let them out at regular prices
Location: Not much in this immediate area, but conveniently located to transportation and plenty of taxis around
(review by American who lives abroad) Family trip with my older mother. I reserved the city view rooms. My mother's room was on the 4th floor and while it's not high, it technically was a city view and adequate. I was given the same layout room two floors up but the floor was under renovation and smelled a bit like paint or maybe glue, and so did the room. I asked the front desk to change me to another room. The guy at the front desk, maybe the manager, told me it wasn't a paint smell (uh, yeah thanks for that), but agreed to change the room. They were unable to put me in another city view room but did get me a cleaner and fresher room on the 9th floor (just a Queens view, no Manhattan). To be clear, the staff were all pleasant in this interaction even if they may have thought I was being overly sensitive. The new room was very nice despite the less impressive view. Big comfy bed, very clean. At night there was some thudding music noise from the function room on the floor above, but I was pretty tired and it didn't bother me. Even though I'd paid more for the city view room, no refund/compensation or anything was offered. I would have appreciated that. Cafe on the ground floor is more of a bar/restaurant, but seemed decent, good coffee. Rooftop bar must get great views on clearer days than when I was there. Fresh coffee in the lobby in the morning is a good touch.

Decent digs with great access to Manhattan

Pros: View, Location
Cons: Check in
Location: Not an exciting location but close to Manhattan and the Astoria neighborhood in Queens
We were here for three nights for a wedding in Long Island City. We enjoyed our stay for the most part, the exception being check in. We checked in at around 1am after a long flight. We were given a room with two double beds. I promptly inquired why we were given this arrangement when my reservation from Travelocity specifically stated king bed. I was told that they can't guarantee whatever Travelocity says and nothing else was available. I was unhappy but didn't have the energy to argue so I went back to the room. While I was in the shower we received a call telling us that they had magically found a king room for us. Other than the fact that we had to switch rooms after mostly unpacking our dress clothes, this was satisfactory for us and the room we were given was much better and had an amazing view of the city. The rooms are small but clean, the bathrooms as well. The bathroom amenities are relatively low quality given the cost of the rooms. Ask for a room on the West side of the building for excellent views of Manhattan. The hotel is very convenient to the N train that goes straight to Manhatten and turns south hitting many of the more tourist friendly Metro stops. The walk from the hotel is 3 safe and easy blocks. The neighborhood is safe, although you can find seediness if you go far. There's some bars and restaurants up on 36th street near the train station. There's also a nice little bar and grill called Dutch Kills Central about 1.5 blocks away.

No love in the heart of the city!

The hotel room was hot ! I had to change rooms 3times I woke up after a long day of traveling to uncomfortable heat!!! The owner of the hotel has a car service that they advertise! The car service dropped me at the wrong location, charged more than was quoted, I ended up get a cab after paying over $100.00 !!! The WORST experience with a hotel and car service on a getaway!!!

I arrived at the hotel, and felt welcome. The person at the desk met me with a big smile.

Pros: Free breakfast
I felt welcome at the hotel. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable. The furniture was very well designed for the room, allowing space for your luggage and free movement around the room. I enjoyed my stay, and would like to come back at again. However, I am waiting to see that I wasn't charged twice for the room. The price was different on my check=out statement from the one on my credit card. Sincerely. Memphis,TN 38116

Amazing Value!!!

I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay here. The room was a great size, actually more spacious than I expected. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, oh and the food at the restaurant is outstanding! There's no better value than this place considering how close it is to Manhattan. I will certainly be staying here for all of my future visits to NYC.

Great Find!!!

I usually do not take the time to follow up with these hotel sites but will make an exception for my latest stay. I choose the 4 Points Sheridan in Long Island City. The hotel is brand new and I feel it is important to let potential guests know the following: I had a better meal in the hotels café then I did in Manhattan. The staff takes great pain to ensure every single possible accomodation is flawless. For 50% less than any room in Manhattan this hotel should be the choice of any bussiness stay in NY. Point of fact: The catering hall on the 12th floor supports what could arguably be the very best view in NYC. Don’t miss ouot on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!

Business Trip

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I am constantly traveling to NYC on business. I usually stay in Manhattan, however my company now wants to save money. So on the recommendation of an associate I checked out the Sheraton in Long Island City. I can tell you it probably is one of the best hotels in New York. The staff was friendly and accomendating. In November I will be returning to close a deal, and my reservation is booked.
