A quick stay in Monterey

Pros: Clean, comfortable beds w/ fresh linens. Fridge and microwave in room.
Location: Great location close to Monterey. Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, Alvarado Street, all nearby.
Our stay at the Pacific Inn was fine. From the pictures you can tell that the rooms have been recently updated, though the property itself does look rather old. Nice wood/laminate flooring, quartz counters in the bathroom. The paint on the door already needed attention, or perhaps just a good cleaning. Bring earplugs as the walls are somewhat thin, thankfully the noisy people didn't stay up too late. They offer breakfast of which we didn't partake as we found a great breakfast place down the street (The Breakfast Club). Our room was $139, but next week it's going for over $200. So for what we paid, I am satisfied w/ the stay. If it were $200, not so much.

Good price for area

Pros: Price and location
Location: close to anything and walking distance to several good restaurants
I looked long and hard for an affordable hotel in the area. from the outside, the hotel leaves much to be desired (and there was a lot of construction in progress at this writing) but the room interior was recently re-done with comfortable bed, crisp linens, remodeled bathroom. In short, very clean and comfortable.

Very nice for budget motel

Motels are ridiculously expensive in Monterrey, and we were looking for a reasonable but decent place to stay. Our room exceeded expectations. It was recently renovated with a lovely bathroom (the key to a woman's heart) and had a fridge and microwave. Things weren't perfect -- the sink faucet was loose and the hairdryer was missing -- but everything was fixed by the next day. Good location. Yes, parking is tight between rooms, so park in the spaces in front, which are more than enough. Not sure why the other negative reviews. I would certainly go back -- I didn't expect a resort, just a decent room at a good price.

Clean Rooms

I just needed a place to spend the night in Monterey. Booked the room based on a review that rooms were recently remodeled and were clean. I was very pleased to find a clean room for the price. The hotel itself is shabby with no amenities to speak of. The free breakfast isn't worth the walk to the office. But if you just care about having a clean room to stay in, Pacific Inn offers a good value.

Location: Only stayed one night, so didn't look around that much for business and restaurants.
Pleasant stay, a little noisy because your so close to the street, but overall , not bad. Room was clean and comfortable.

Could be worse...

The room looked like it had been cleaned, but there were dark fingerprints all over the doors and light switches. The room itself was tolerable, but the exterior was literally falling apart. Caution tape around a staircase that has been taken down and the fence unrepaired. We were on the second floor, and you could feel rotted places under your feet in the hallway.

Monterey stay

This hotel was adequate for our short stay in Monterey. The room size was good, however, the carpeting was quite shabby...raveling at the edge to the dressing area. The mini fridge was o.k. The in-room coffee pot was o.k., but the coffee was terrible. It was plugged into a plug strip, rather than on a separate plug. Didn't use the t.v. but you could see where a big console t.v. had been replaced by a flat screen t.v.

Very old and not looking to update it anytime soon

Pros: Close to a gas station for late night snacks
Cons: A lot: Very run down and has holes in the walls
Location: Just a few restaurants and a lot of other hotels
This place is a local hotel but has signs of previously being a best western (including all the phones in the rooms). Our bathroom had a baseball size hole in the wall which was plugged by tissues. The shower and sink were very old / rusty and the tv remote had clearly been chewed to death (and was covered in crumbs). The lady who checked us in was nice, and the breakfast was complimentary (tho it's just coffee/juice/waffles) but I wish we had stayed down the street where it was much more affordable. The walls were paper thin. The room was very clean (bedding), it was just run down like the owner had no desire to improve anything. The reviews for this place are higher on Travelocity than they should be. This was a 2.5 worth place at best.
