Location is great and easy to explore Madrid. It is a Hostel so you may not get the creature comforts of a traditional hotel. But the location is great and the price is right.

Great location!

Location was awesome, although extremely difficult to find. The sign is very small, and up on the 3rd floor, we struggled to find it, walking past it 4 times before finally seeing it. The reception was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was older but clean. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. We loved the location, it was in the heart of all the bars and restaurants, but the double windows allowed us quiet. Wi-fi was very spotty and undependable.

The Hostal Oliver is located in a decrepit building. On the way to the elevator, we could observe lots of signs showing this was not going to be a nice place. The elevator walls were covered with graffiti. The person who received us was somehow not very friendly when asking for our IDs. We decided on the spot not to stay and instead looked for another hotel. Some of these places should not even be on Hotels.com's list !

Pygmy Room.

The problem was the size of the room, it was about 7 feet wide and maybe 10 feet long with a minute toilet facility at the end of the room. A double bed was scrunched in and the door barely opened next to it. Europe has small rooms but this place took it a step too far.

Hotel did not respected for what I país for.

When I did the reservation it stated that the breakfast was included in the price. The person in charge at the Hostal did not respected this and told me It was not included. I showed a printed document of my reservation with hotels.com. They tríed to convence me I did not used hotels.com, but expedia.com, and that was why breakfast was not included.!!!??? I do have to stay two other stays more as I alredy paid and I do not want to loose the money, but I am not happy.

Great location, surprisingly lovely room

We weren't expecting much as it being cheap and what we thought could be a hostel but after finally locating it (difficult to locate you have to know the exact address and even then we walked past it (there's a tiny sign on the fourth floor way above our heads)), we were very pleasantly surprised. The building is like a apartment block but each "flat" has been transformed into something else and there are 3/4 hotels/hotels where the flats where. Our room was a double room and had a private bathroom although there were others with a shared bathroom. Check-in was easy and we got the key to the room and went in straight away. The wifi isn't very good and barely works but it has little surges every now and then so as to check your Facebook notifications. Everything is clean and the room is bright and spacious, you can just squeeze onto the tiny balcony and see the street below, there isn't much traffic so the noise mainly comes from the bars and cafes around, however we found this quite pleasant and not really disturbing. There is air con and a TV, the TV has spanish subtitles and is in Spanish with no other language channels but this wasn't a problem, the shower does ike the go from hot to cold which was a bit annoying but we just but it as an adventure :') For a euro you can leave suitcases after having checked-out until 9pm and they are locked in the staff cupboard. There are staff 24 hours in the tiny reception and there is a code on the main door.

Madrid Budget Hotel

Hotel is hard to find, but in central neighborhood (Sol Area). Room was comfortable and had TV (Spanish stations only). Desk was only staffed about 1/2 the time. They provided towels but no cups or soap. Very good for the price. I'd stay again.

Worth it's money

The hostal from the outside at first scared me...especially the door security and the dark entrance corridor that takes you to the elevator to the 4th floor. Though I know hostels are special, this one for me was super special ...the only thing that fit in the room was the twin bed and me on it. I laughed when I stretched my arms out and I could touch the walls with both of my hands at the same time LOL. I good thing was that I had my own bathroom...it was very compact but it was all mine...and that made everything so much better. Location location...that was perfect..I was in the middle of all activity.

Madrid weekend

Oliver Hostal is a great, budget hostal that is in a prime location! It had all that was important for us. Lourdes, the receptionist, was very helpful, friendly and made our stay comfortable. It can be a very noisy location, so she gave us a quieter inner room with large double doors, that allowed for fresh air without the busy outside street noise. The room was fresh, very clean and although small, the double bed, private bathroom in our room plus the WiFi were just right for us. The hostal was newly renovated and had central air and hearing plus an elevator to reach our room on the 3rd floor. We would definitely stay here again! There is a great Cuban restaurant across the street and a good place to eat breakfast steps away. A Galician seafood restaurant around the corner too. Location, location, location!!!!!!!!

Agradable estancia en el centro

Hostal Oliver se encuentra en pleno centro, en un edificio con ascensor y muy bien situado. La habitación resultó ser cómoda, luminosa y espaciosa. La amabilidad del personal, sobre todo de Lourdes, fue muy de agradecer. Seguro que volveremos.
