We stayed here 4 nights for our 17th anniversary. We were greeted by very friendly staff and concierge, as well as a lovely dessert plate wishing us a happy anniversary. The room was very unique with various black and white (which is my favorite color combination, so I'm happy it turned out we got one of those rooms), a large closet, a safe, and an A/C unit (which was appreciated, as it was actually a bit hot in London during our stay). I love that they offer bedside slippers (I usually keep my socks on when walking around carpeting in hotels, but the fact that they had slippers was great). The bathroom was a bit small, ordinary, could use some updating. There was room for only 1 of us to get ready at a time, the glass on the shower was ajar and needed fixed. The breakfasts are really good and their tea time is divine. Also, The Blue Door Bistro, which is housed inside, has delicious dinners. The hotel is lovely, with various different sitting rooms to relax in and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee, read, chat.. it was all just very relaxing. And I can't leave the review without mentioning the Leopard Lounge! What a great way to end an evening. I asked the bartender for a drink recommendation based on some flavors I like, and he made me one of the best drinks I've ever tasted in my life! ALL of the staff at the Montague were very friendly. We enjoyed our stay here very much and we would stay here again

This is a fantastic hotel! It is a model for Quality Customer Service! Staff are focused on making your stay a great one! Breakfast was great (quality and quantity). And the location is perfect: quiet area but an easy walk to all the exciting areas of London (Soho, Covent Garden, Picadilly etc)

This little cozy gem offers the best London experience. The employees of this hotel like Adele, Jorge, Leveiant, Mr. Omar, Alfina and Raymond went out of their way to make thing comfortable and possible. Jorge even found tickets for sold out Opera La Traviata the day of the event- now come on this goes beyond the staff remembering your name and room number. The rooms got cleaned twice daily and the crew came by to check if we needed anything with a light knock at door.

Sweet hotel on quiet street in great neighborhood

Pros: Every staff member was welcoming, knowledgable, and professional. The hotel is well-maintained, spotless and well-appointed. Room service was tasty.
Location: Hotel is on a quiet street across from the British Museum. Neighborhood is safe and quiet. Buses & tube very close. Near good pubs, cafes and parks.
First trip to London. Couldn't have been luckier to book the Montague on the Gardens for location, comfort and service.

Great location for sightseeing, centrally located.

Pros: The rooms are small, but elequantly decorated.
Cons: The bed is a bit stiff. We were sore after a week of sleeping on it.
Location: The British museum is directly across the street. There are two tube stations within a couple of blocks. The location is perfect for sightseeing.
The restaurant and bar are wonderful, with excellent service. Unless you are really hungry you and a guest will only need the traditional tea for one.

Found a RAT in my bathroom!

I woke up on my second night there and had a little strugle with a large rat in my bathroom. When I called the desk for assistance the clerk called me a tosser and said I should hose off.

I love this hotel

My sister and I stayed here for only two nights in June 2009, and I didn't want to leave. The decor is old-fashioned English chintz-and-mahogany comfort, but the mechanicals are the latest thing. The staff is delightful. The location couldn't be better--right across from the British Museum, in the beautiful Bloomsbury neighborhood. It's expensive, but look for a special deal in these hard economic times.

Highly Recommended

This is just a terrific hotel. The decor is English chintzy, but the "mechanicals" are the latest thing. The staff is wonderful. The location can't be beat--right around the corner from the British Museum. I wish I could just live there.
