Absolutely Beautiful

The Concierge Level is well worth it. The food was good, the amenities were nice, the facility grounds were beautiful. It felt as though we left the city and went to a secluded retreat. Wish bathroom was a little bigger. But well worth the visit. Especially for a special occasion.

We loved it.

Pros: Gym, pools, northern environment, cleanness, is very cousy.
Location: You can go shopping to galleria and highland park in just 5 minutes. Le Pep great place for breakfast or lunch 5 minutes too.
The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, elegant, and their pools spectacular, the gym no less. The shop amazing. I needed more time to really enjoy. Location is excellent. You can feel yourself in the woods but you are right there near everything you need. Food was very good although a little pricy. We had a great time.

Stodgy

Pros: Not much.
Cons: I can't think of anything.
Location: Hotel was h ard to find; hidden behind too much foliage. The Galeria was nearby, but the traffic was horrible.
The hotel is old-school glamor; therefore stodgy. The meals in the restaurants were too expensive for 1/4 of a plate full.

We are sorry you did not enjoy The Houstonian- we are continuously working to improve the facilities and the guest stay. I will certainly pass on your comments about the Restaurant offerings - we certainly hope that you will return for a future visit and allow us the opportunity to make amends.

Peaceful Oasis

Pros: see above
Cons: The signal for internet and cell were weak, but when I went to speak with the staff they had the IT person working to correct it beside them already.
Location: Its the Galleria area of Houston. Enough said
Beautiful room and excellent staff. Favorite part was going to the lobby for coffee early in the morning, then sitting by the huge fireplace and reading the paper in peace. This hotel maintains an old world charm with modern amenities. And, its probably the most peaceful place you'll find in Houston!

Fantastic get away

Pros: Free Internet
Complimentary access to the health club makes this hotel #1!! The club is loaded with activites for all ages. The spa is delightful and super relaxing. Perhaps my favorite was the "padded" jogging path around the facility! An absolutely fantastic weekend get away!

Lovely setting and old world feeling

Pros: Quiet
The grounds are mature and beautiful. The hotel is only three stories tall and thus not too dense a setting as you find in newer hotels. Mattress was divine.

Weekend in February

My husband and I visited this hotel without our kids to celebrate our anniversary. Check in was very easy with no wait and we were "upgraded" to a corner room and concierge floor amenities which included a cocktail hour and continental breakfast. The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. Housekeeping was very on top of things and visited the room several times to straighten and freshen towels. The grounds were beautiful even in February and we used the pools, walking track and club facilities. We would recommend this hotel to any of our friends.

Love & Romance

The hotel was absolutely splendid with absolute flair. It was first rate from the second we drove up the road. You felt as if you were driving into your own world. All staff members were courteous and professional and just wonderful. I was totally won over by every aspect of my stay here.

Family Deal

My three kids and I spent one night at the Houstonian. We read a review that suggested the Concierge Floor, which was absolutely the one thing that made this hotel worth it. We arrived a bit early for check in, but were allowed to go to the Concierge Lounge where they had drinks and nuts available. On the Concierge floor you can get complentary drink, snacks, and after dinner sweets. The thing that shocked me (and pleased many) was that complimentary alcohols that were available for a while in the evening (beer, gin, Crown, you name it!) I wouldn't stay at this hotel again, but for the Concierge floor which made it a unique experience. The down side of the hotel is, that if you don't ask specifically for a good view, not of the trees and parking lot, that's what you'll get. The bathrooms are tiny--definately 1 person restrooms. There is some kind of game system available in the rooms, but I'm sure it costs extra. The worst part of the experience for me was all the walking and stairs required to get to the pools and around the hotel. My youngest went to the children's gym, but since check-in on Saturday is 4 p.m., she only got to stay until 6 p.m. (closing) and it didn't reopen by the time we had to check out. It opens at noon on Sunday. It costs $7/ hour. The children's gym is downstairs and takes some walking to get to. The kids are not very well supervised. So young children might have difficulties. The pools were crowded in the day time, but at night the blue lights were beautiful.

Will stay again.

The rooms are small and the bathrooms even smaller, however, the maid service is fantastic...better than any other hotel I've stayed at and I've stayed at 100's!\n\nI probably wouldn't stay at this hotel if I couldn't get into the concierge level. the concierge level is outstanding with an open bar during Happy Hour with vegies and cheese. Morning have a good continental breakfast and in the evenings there is desserts and open after hour drinks as well! \n\nI have every intention of checking out the spa, but didn't have time. Next time for sure!\n\nThe best part of the rooms are that there is an AC/heat vent in the bathroom! I have never seen this before. Usually I am sweltering in the bathroom and have to keep going into the main room area to cool off. Not here. That alone would make me come back!!\n\nLocation is convenient to freeway and shopping.
