We took a family vacation and stayed at this resort for seven days. We loved everything about it. We had so much fun, the food was amazing, so many options to choose from. The staff was amazing, they provided excellent service. The only part we didn’t like was all the mosquitoes. Other than that, it was perfect.

I honestly would not recommend this resort after my experience. The food was awful from start to finish, both in taste and in variety. Nothing ever felt fresh or enjoyable, and by the end of the trip we dreaded going to eat. The service was no better. Staff were either unavailable or simply uninterested in helping, and every simple request turned into a problem. Sleeping was also uncomfortable because the fans in the room made a constant loud noise through the night. On top of that, the faucets leaked water all day long. It felt like nothing in the room was properly maintained, which made it hard to relax. When it came to dining, if you missed the main hours you were stuck. There is nothing open later at night and nowhere to grab even a small bite. Trying to make restaurant reservations was another nightmare. Everything was always booked and it was nearly impossible to secure a table without spending half your day checking for availability. The transportation around the resort was just as frustrating. The shuttle only comes every 15 to 20 minutes, and when it finally arrives it is already full. We spent way too much time just waiting around instead of enjoying our vacation. Room service was practically nonexistent. We requested it one night and nothing ever arrived. After waiting and realizing no one was coming, we had to walk down to the front desk just to complain. That is not the kind of service you expect at a resort that is supposed to make things easy for guests.

Overall this resort was great. Two things I didn’t like and wish it was different. One the staff making food and serving food should wear gloves all the time, they don’t. Second the king bed we had was 2 full size bed put together. I didn’t like it, was shifting all time separate sheets just not comfortable and very inconvenient.

Unfortunately we were so excited for the food and we stayed for 7 days and were starving no authentic Mexican food nothing tasted good no music vibes they charged for shows im so disappointed only good thing is ppl cleaning out room we’re so nice

The trolley drivers and waiters/waitress were really good and attentive. The rest of the staff was very rude. Such as the gift shop and the front desk staff. They were acting like they were doing me a favor. Even one of the managers told me they were doing me a favor by giving me two nights at the restaurant. You’re expected to eat at the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would not recommend this hotel.

What an amazing 8 days in paradise. I can truly say this was an amazing hotel with amazing staff. Francisco, the waiter in the buffet made sure me and my family were taken care of. He was so thoughtful, caring, and respectful. This man truly made our meals special. There were not waits for the buffet. The food in the specialty restaurants were mediocre. The buffet was good. My son especially enjoyed the teens club. Big thank you to the staff there for caring and keeping an eye on him! To the Bahía principe team, thank you for an unforgettable vacation.

Would rate the food a 4 for the buffet. The staff, grounds, facilities, and activities were great! I didn’t like that “I feel taken” feeling I had when the Amstar rep Igor write down the pricing on a piece of paper. It would have been better to have a legitimate pricing list. They are also only brokers, and not the tour company themselves. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable. We were very upset to have to tip to get seated at Don Pablo for the last seating, only to have them turn off the AC when we arrived so we were dripping with sweat throughout our meal and it was clear they were pushing us out, not enjoyable. Everything else was great, especially the Brazilian restaurant, service and sides were amazing and the tapioca pudding was the highlight of all the food we had for many in our party of 7.

The resort is huge, beautifully maintained, and full of wildlife like iguanas, raccoons, and butterflies — our kids loved spotting them. You can visit the sister hotel Coba by golf cart from the lobby. The kids’ pool area with slides and sprinklers was a big hit, and the water was refreshingly cool. We stayed in Villa 338, perfectly located near the main pool, lobby, and buffets. Rooms were spacious, but the double beds were too narrow for a family of four. Small updates like fixing the curtains, bathroom windows, and cracked sink would make a big difference. Housekeeping was excellent. Dining was our biggest frustration — most à la carte restaurants showed “fully booked” on the app, yet we often saw empty tables. You are only allowed to get four reservations per stay. the Mexican restaurant was outstanding, the Brazilian just okay. Buffet food was good, but the area sometimes felt understaffed. The beach had seaweed during our stay (not the hotel’s fault), but staff worked hard to clean it. We found swimmable spots near the sister hotel and enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. Entertainment was fun — we loved bingo and lotería. Note: the Mexican Fiesta and Origen shows cost extra. Beautiful grounds, great kids’ amenities, and friendly staff. With a better restaurant booking system and a few room upgrades, this could be a near-perfect Riviera Maya resort.

The property and grounds were well maintained and appealing. The pool area was clean and big. The restaurant and buffet had a good selection but can do with more options for vegetarians. The downside of buffet area was that there was cross contamination of meat cutlery with vegetarian cutlery and also the food labels were not informative or clear for a vegetarian. Staff in the kitchen were lacking in knowing if a dish was vegetarian or not. The room we had, had multiple issues such as leaking shower door which would flood the outside and room had smelly air con leaving the room smelling damp. Although notice is displayed regarding reserving sun beds, this was totally ignored and people reserved their beds at the crack of dawn. Organising excursions from the hotels partner company amstar was simple and they had plenty of options and activities to book. The market outside the hotel was a positive as didn’t have to travel far for souvenirs. The daily evening entertainment was good, however guests should not have to pay for entertainment at a “5 star hotel”.
