The location wasn’t too bad as the neighborhood is nice, and shops are a short walk away. It’s a bit deceptive from the photos what the hotel looks like. It has a chandelier as a spotlight as if it’s a charming, sophisticated hotel. In reality, there’s no one in the hotel to help. One needs codes to get in the hotel and room. The communication was good as I had to call a number for the codes, because I didn’t see the email before I arrived. The room was clean, the single bed was small, and average comfort. Nice shower, but the mirror at the sink, outside the bathroom, didn’t have its own light. Why? The TV channels were a mess, and took certification to figure out how to get more than two channels. I know that the price was higher for the NFL game weekend, but $350 U.S. dollars was “highway robbery” for that room. I had a more luxury room at a Motel 6 in Palookaville, Iowa, and I got a big fat breakfast out of it for a $150. If you can’t get a real hotel, instead of a faux VRBO hotel, this is a good choice for 120 Euros max, only because it’s in a nice area in Rathgar.

When we arrived we could not get any access to the property or the room. Got access to the property when somebody came out. Then we found we had to email the company to get our room number and access codes. Other people had the same problem. Not good enough as we should have had this information before we arrived. Expensive and small room.

Clean and close to city attractions

Room and property were clean and just as described. Easy to get to via Uber/Taxi. Had some loud guests on our second night but that’s to be expected sometimes. All in all a great stay and would recommend. An economical option to staying in Dublin City Center.

Unacceptable smell of sewage/ drains in room

I was given a basement room which had a serious problem with the stench of sewage very hard to bear. Level 1 rooms are on a semi basement level and there was a smell from the time I went down the stairs. But into the room it was unpleasant. When I returned from a walk I realised the window had been open in the room as it was now cold with the curtains blowing. When I closed the window and then went into the shower area the full impact of the smell hit. Really disgusting. Unfortunately it was too late to make other arrangements and I spent a very unpleasant night and got out as early as I could the next day. Don’t risk it. Find another place to stay. If you have an issue there are no staff here who will help you. One security / maintenance person on site who is not customer service trained.

Better instructions for parking - where AND how to park - people park and block your way in dont like the sink outside the bathroom the shower drain was blocked/water filling up mid shower - tray not deep enough towel refresh should be a given - too onerous to email ahead every day asking for fresh towels would be good to have spare towels/pillows balnkets etc too also the bed moved around too easily-wouldnt fix it in place necessarily (just in case soemthing rolls under and you need to move it) but bed kept sliding

No 9 Rathgar was an unpleasant experience. The pictures did not accurately depict our room. There were bugs, hair from previous guests and stains on the sheets. I have pictures of it all. Do not recommend staying at no 9 Rathgar

The room was clean and newly redone. However, I did not know it had no reception which caused issues in getting my delayed luggage delivered. The hallway smelled like sewage. It was truly disgusting. My room fridge was warm and I couldn’t adjust it so my leftovers spoiled. Housekeeping is upon request only.

This is not a hotel- it’s basically a room to rent with no physical welcome or service and no included room cleaning. Virtual check in was efficient but the room was tiny, barely room to get around the bed and the only basin was right by the bed, not in the tiny space that held the shower and loo. Literally no space to put suitcase except across the door - not ideal if emergency exit required. Very very disappointed indeed. One light bulb not working. Overall very unwelcoming and very poor value. We will not be staying here again.

The room is small and has a comfortable bed. There was no water provided in the room. Unfortunately there isn’t good soundproofing and I could hear doors closing, tvs and loud conversations happening well into the night which prevented me from getting decent sleep. There is a walk in shower with good water pressure but the spray from the shower was coming out onto the floor while I was waiting for the water to heat up. Then the drain couldn’t keep up and the water overflowed onto the tiled floor. There was also some mould where the tiles meet the shower tray. I wouldn’t consider this to be a 4 star hotel, in fact it’s more of a hostel or at best a guest house.

About 2 and half stars. Quite expensive but clean

Room was ok. Very clean. Kettle, coffee machine, iron, hair dryer, towels etc. Not a lot of space. TV doesn’t work properly. No staff on the premises and no reply to an email request for information.

Locks Didn't Work as Described

Our stay was tainted by a poor check-in experience that clouded anything else we might have appreciated more. First, when we booked, we expected more of a regular hotel with staff on site. We were staying in Airbnb's the rest of the trip and had decided to stay in a hotel for this one night. It was an adequate building with parking, which we needed, but I wouldn't really call it a hotel. The instructions we received for check-in said there would be nobody on site and gave us codes to get in. We made it all the way to our door and used the code successfully on the Yale lock, only to discover that the lock did not have its inner workings and did nothing to actually lock the door. We eventually, after about an hour, accessed the key to lock the bottom doorknob so that we could securely lock our belongings in our room and go eat. During that time, we emailed the owners and made phone calls, which in itself was an ordeal to get working with our international phones. We never received a response from the email or phone calls but luckily found a maintenance guy who happened to drive into the back parking lot while I was sitting in my car making phone calls. He helped us access the physical key to lock the door to our room, but not after an extremely frustrating time up until that point. The room itself was spacious, modern, clean. There were no towels when we arrived, but they were available to pick up down the hall. The beds were reasonably comfortable, outlets worked, etc.

This property was absolutely disgusting, hair on the floor, the shower didn’t drain and water splattered into the bathroom, the drain was broke and the plug for it was sitting in the tub full of hair. We had to ask for more towels, they gave us two, didn’t go very far when you’re mopping up water. There was an open package of crackers on top of the microwave and three cans of beer in the dirty refrigerator. Blow dryer didn’t work, nor did the coffee pot. We knew there was no air conditioner, however the window opened about an inch, we were uncomfortably hot, it was an absolutely terrible experience. Pictures do not reflect an accurate representation of the property. Very disappointed.
