The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel was nicely kept. We had a room on the side street and the outside noise at night was easy heard in our room.

Great (but crowded) location - 5-10 minute walk to Temple Bar area; 1/2 block from airport express bus; tons of restaurants. Hotel is fine... older... but fine. Pleasant front desk and restaurant staff; complimentary breakfast; small 1-person room but fine for a 1-night stay. Great value. Downstairs pub with food and entertainment.

Neat old hotel with high ceilings & good location. Our room was huge, clean and in nice condition. The staff was very friendly. The free breakfast buffet was delicious. The Down stairs restaurant was great, with live music and traditional Irish Dancing.

The hotel had wonderful historic charm!!! The staff was amazing and we had so much fun getting to know Joe & Eoin down in the Vault. Its a short walk to the bus hop on and to the sites of City Center.

Staff was very helpful. Dining rooms were very well serviced; food just a bit above average. Excellent location. Very nice 'old-world' furnishings and decor. Surprisingly warm for April and no air conditioning. No dresser/limited place to put clothing. Would prefer top sheet rather than heavy-weight comforter. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Comfortable Hotel near Dublin City Centre

My wife and I loved this kitschy Georgian hotel. The service was excellent from the wonderful people at the front desk to the servers and barman in the two restaurants. One of the room cleaners graciously showed my wife how to use the built in hair dryer. We spent several late evenings after a day of hard touristing in the hotel's Vault bar. Lewis makes an awesome Irish coffee that must be tried to be believed. The morning breakfast buffet in the Music Shop Cafe which was included in the room price far exceeded any hotel buffet I have seen. The servers were friendly, the wait for a table was short and a full Irish breakfast was available. The only complaint would be the size of this shower stall, but I suppose when converting Georgian townhouses into a hotel this is to be expected. We would definitively stay here again since we are already planning a return trip for next year.

Quirky historic hotel conveniently located

Pros: quirky historic layout; wonderful staff; excellent dinner
Cons: breakfast was a bit dull
Location: not centrally located, but Trinity College is a easy 10 min walk, and hotel is very near a stop for the city hop-on/off bus tour
The Castle Hotel was a fun, quirky experience. Although the building layout makes little sense, my room number was in the 100s, but located on the second floor, this just adds to the atmosphere. You never know what you'll find around the next corner! The decor is old but not shabby; I found it charming and added to the ambiance. GPS was a bit challenged to find the right location, but the hotel staff was more than happy to talk me through the directions. My room was small, but it was just me so I wasn't bothered. The shower was hot with good pressure and the bed comfortable. The window did open to the main street which was a little noisy, but I was so tired I feel asleep with no problem. The dinner in the Vault was wonderful! A neat space with excellent food. And the little bar had live music. It was nice to listen to traditional Irish tunes and enjoy a few drinks. Though not centrally located, it is close enough to some main attractions (Trinity College 10 minute walk) it was still convenient. I only spent one night but would visit again for a longer stay in Dublin.
