Hotel Riu Palace Costa Rica - All Inclusive
"As a woman in my 20s traveling solo, I had a mixed experience staying here. Room: My room was clean, and housekeeping did a great job every day when requested. One strange thing did happen, though,a mattress appeared behind the curtains in my room halfway through my stay. I never asked about it, but it was definitely odd. Amenities: The pools and bar were great, but what really stood out was the service staff. Everyone serving drinks was incredibly personable. They asked about my travels, joked around, remembered my name, and made me feel genuinely welcome. As a solo traveler, that made a big difference. Food: The buffet was by far the best dining option. I tried eating at the specialty restaurants, but I was turned away twice because I didn't get in line around 5:15 p.m. to receive a ticket that sells out quick. If you're spending your days on excursions you won’t be able to dine. Room service is VERY limited. Noise: I honestly wish I hadn't paid extra for the ocean-view room. While the view was beautiful, it overlooked the stage where nightly entertainment took place. The music was very loud and made it difficult to sleep. It became a "if you can't beat them, join them" situation, but since I had early morning excursions planned, I often ended up exhausted. Overall: I think this resort is a better fit if you plan to spend most of your vacation relaxing on the property. if you're a traveler planning to spend most of your time exploring Costa Rica, I don’t recommend"
