It was as hot and humid in side the check in area as it was outside! When I checked in they said there would not be breakfast because they have no staff! They didn’t even have coffee for gods sake! The entire hotel smelled like smoke! For some odd reason there was pieces of scotch tape scattered on the ceiling of the room? Probably holding the building together since it looked like it was falling apart! When I booked it it said free breakfast but they didn’t even have a piece of stale toast! I should have gave blood at least I would have got a cup of orange juice! Thanks for nothing!

Website said breakfast and no breakfast was included. I understand Covid restrictions but still could have done like a room service simple breakfast or at least coffee. Room was very dirty; washcloth was stained with makeup, bed had something stuck to the sheet; microwave was dirty; tabletop was dirty; tv screen was filthy

Manager is a nightmare

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: horrible management
I've stayed here before. It's not the best place, but you get what you pay for; it's reasonable. I booked an overnight here. My husband and I had sold our camper and we planned on delivering it on this day, hang around town and stay the night. Michigan nasty weather hit and there was no way we were going to drive a camper 3 hours to the other side of the state. The cancellation deadline had passed. It's my own fault for not checking the weather. I didn't even expect much from the hotel, but it can't hurt to ask, right? I spoke with a lady at the front desk and she was very sympathetic and said their computer system won't let them refund when it's outside the cancellation deadline. However, she told me the manager can. She said she'd leave him a note about this and I should call again at 11. I called at 11 and the woman transferred me to the manager. First off, he answered the phone "hello" in a snotty voice. I explained my circumstances and asked if we could maybe work something out since we were planning on rescheduling the trip the next weekend. He gave me the song and dance about the computer system. I told him about the manager being able to override the system like his employee told me and he told me that's not true. I explained I'd be staying next weekend and if something could be done. He.... HUNG UP ON ME!!!!! Okay, he could have said "no" and that would have been that. And, honestly I'm not a nightmare customer. I was very polite. I'm not giving you every single word, but he was terribly rude. I made a formal complaint w/ the Choice Hotels phone line. The customer service rep told me I wasn't the first formal complaint against this guy - others had been filed for similar situations. The rep even called the hotel for me to try and work something out! The guy told him 'no' and wouldn't give the corporate guy his name either. Gee, I wonder why. What's awesome is Choice Hotels gave me a ton of points toward their frequent stay program (of which I already belonged). Better than nothing right? I was actually thrilled over it! I can't tell people not to stay here, but I can certainly pass on my crazy experience.
