The front desk gal was excellent! One of the most friendly people I’ve ever dealt with. She was extremely accommodating and helpful!! The rooms were very clean. The other staff were very friendly as well.

The hotel is *still* under construction. We stayed in August when it was under construction and it looks like not much has changed, except the public bathrooms by the Iowa Stater Restaurant were closed for construction. The hot tub was also closed, as it was in August when we stayed. The service and food, especially for the prices, was horrible this time, whereas in August the bartender was friendly and the chef made amazing food. This time, I had to send the gnocchi back: dry, gritty and inedible. The soup was SO salty. My son ordered a Cuban sandwich $17… no fries, no sides, just a dried up ham sandwich (looked like Aldi meat) about the size of my fist. I rarely complain, but I was so hungry after waiting over an hour for food and even asking if they forgot our order. I asked for some chicken strips to go and told them the gnocchi was terrible; I only ate two bites. When they brought the bill, they were going to charge me for the gnocchi and the chicken strips, and no apology at all for the service. I went to the manager. He said he’d check. In the meanwhile the waiter took my credit card, so I thought the manager blew us off. Then the manager came out and said he’d comp the bill. I said, well, the waiter is over at the register with my card. He chased down the waiter and got my card back. In all fairness, they had a couple big crowds, but this was awful. And I had a really long drive to get my kid from college and just wanted to relax. We will probably not come back.
