Stoney Creek Hotel Kansas City - Independence
"We stayed here for a couple of days while helping my mom clear out her home before selling it. The front desk associate who checked us in and the bartender on our first night were both fantastic and made a great first impression. Unfortunately, the rest of our stay was disappointing. After a long day of physical work, I was really looking forward to a hot shower, but the water never got hotter than lukewarm. This was around 11:30 p.m., so it seemed unlikely that the hotel had simply run out of hot water. When I called the front desk, the employee who answered offered no assistance and simply stated there was nothing he could do. There was no attempt to investigate the issue or offer any alternative solution. The next morning, knowing we needed to get back to my mom’s house before the rain arrived, we asked if a late checkout was possible. Even an extra hour would have helped. We were told no. My husband then asked if the hotel was sold out or if rooms were available, and we were told there were rooms available. I wouldn’t say this was a terrible hotel, but the lack of hot water combined with the unwillingness to help or accommodate a simple request made this a disappointing stay. Better customer service would have made a significant difference."
