Mombasa flights, which land at Moi International Airport (MBA), are just the beginning of an epic adventure on the coast of Kenya. As a port city, Mombasa stands at the crossroads between Africa and the Indian subcontinent, and is an ancient trading post with a diverse culture. It has beautiful beaches on the balmy Indian Ocean, an Old Town with a 16th-century Portuguese fort, colorful tropical reefs in the Mombasa Marine National Park and Reserve, and a wildlife park where you can see the amazing animals of the Kenyan wilderness. Transportation from MBA
After disembarking from flights to Mombasa, collecting your luggage, and passing through customs, head to the customer service desk in the international arrivals hall. Staff there can arrange transportation to destinations throughout Mombasa via taxis that are registered to operate at the airport. There is a set fee to travel from the airport to the center of Mombasa. You can also discuss taking public buses, which depart from the airport every 30 minutes. If you choose this option to get to the center of Mombasa, you can then use local taxis or matatus (public minibuses) to reach your hotel.
You can also use them to get to tourist destinations such as the Old Town, with its ornate Swahili architecture and many souvenir stores, the beaches of Nyali on the north coast, and the Haller Park wildlife conservancy in Bamburi. Renting a car from one of the car rental desks in the airport's main lobby will give you more flexibility. Some of the higher-end Mombasa hotels and resorts, such as those along Diani Beach to the south of central Mombasa, will arrange private airport transfers upon request.
