Frequently asked questions
How to find cheap flights
What is the best day to buy a plane ticket?
Airfares offered on Friday tend to be the cheapest, according to flight demand on Travelocity.ca in 2021. Purchasing your airfares on a Thursday or Saturday can also provide better value, however our advice if you’re looking to save money is to avoid booking on a Wednesday or Sunday. Our data shows that those two days have the highest ticket values on average, so keep this in mind if you’re browsing flight deals.
What are the cheapest days to fly?
Frequent travellers may already know this, earlier in the week is often the cheapest time to fly. Flights departing on a Monday are the cheapest of the week. Since flights towards the middle of the week tend to be more popular, this causes the prices to rise. This is why, on average, airfares booked on Travelocity.ca in 2021 were most expensive for Wednesday departures.
How far in advance can you book a flight?
Here’s the deal: It is typically possible to start comparing international airfares on Travelocity.ca up to 12 months in advance. However, it does depend on the carrier as not all airlines release their prices that far out. According to our 2021 flight demand trends, last minute planners can still bag a bargain with some of the cheapest fares appearing 2-4 weeks prior to their travel dates.

Flights To Guangzhou
Founded in 214BC, Guangzhou is the busiest trade and transport hub in China, and the country's third-biggest city after Beijing and Shanghai. While Guangzhou is often just passed through after travelers disembark at Guangzhou Baiyun International (CAN), the city is a destination in its own right. It's a beguiling blend of the old and new: you can visit an ancient park, imperial tomb, or colonial villas while also taking in futuristic architecture and soaring skyscrapers. What's more, booking cheap flights to Guangzhou with Travelocity makes the trip more affordable than you thought.
Transportation from CAN
Hotels near Baiyun International are the obvious choice when arriving straight off Guangzhou flights. The airport itself is some 17 miles from the city center, and there's a good transportation network, with cabs, six express bus lines, and 10 airport shuttle bus services, as well as the subway (Line 3). You can also take buses from Baiyun International to other cities across the Guangdong province. Once you get into town, there are numerous long-distance bus services and three railway stations to help you get around.
A vacation to Guangzhou is likely to be about shopping -- for everything from clothes and electronics to tea, toys, and herbs -- and eating. In fact, Guangzhou has more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in China. The birthplace of Cantonese cuisine, it's the best place to immerse yourself in authentic sweet and sour pork, dim sum, and won ton soup. When city life is too much, head for one of the peaceful surrounding villages, some dating back to 960AD. Or go birdwatching in Nansha Wetland, a haven for migrant birds from as far away as Serbia. In town, visit temples, cathedrals, mosques, markets, and the Pearl River -- perfect for an evening cruise.
Experience Guangzhou
Travelocity can help you search hundreds of airlines and secure the best deal on your trip to southern China. Once you book flights to Guangzhou with Travelocity, any lower price you find can be matched. Save more when you book a hotel and air ticket together.
