Staff ignored me when checked in. No eye contact until I raised mu voice to tell him I am here. I asked to have a room close to my friend, without checking, he just said we are full. Room door is so thin that I could hear everyone walking by. I tried to find somewhere we can sit and chat with my friends in the lobby. No sitting facilities available. I would call it a 3.5 stars hotel, max.

Beautiful hotel lobby and gardens! Plentiful staff to assist. It’s such a lovely place with people at all hours too! Rooms are good, I’d suggest you book one of their newer style rooms though. Breakfast is good but way overpriced at 228rmb per person per day.

-conclusion:if you want to experience multicultural environment, love history and heritage, want to explore local culture and enjoy luxury ambience but don’t care too much of top class service then this could be the right place. -pro: amazing facility (nice gym, pool, spa, lovely Chinese garden in the middle of city centre brings tranquility), great room, nice food (some of the best brekkie and restaurants) and great location. The hotel has characteristics and heritage (it has a museum! ) and carries a old time glamorous charm. -cons/improvements required: staff are very nice and enthusiastic to help but service is chaotic, slow and unprofessional.
