The property was lovely. My criteria is always cleanliness, good plumbing, and a working heater or AC. Check, check, and check. The neighborhood was quiet, and parking with one car was easy. Thoroughly recommend!

We stayed here while in town visiting family for Christmas. It was a great house in a great neighborhood. However on our last day we arrived back at the house at 3:30pm to find the furnace had stopped working. We contacted the hosts immediately and they sent a maintenance person as early as they could - 8:00pm. At 8:30pm we learned heat would not be restored overnight. The hosts did not provide any solutions for us (providing a space heater, finding an alternative place stay, etc.) other than crediting us for the night and letting us know “we were welcome to check out early if we were too uncomfortable”. To keep our 3 kids warm for the night (one of whom is 13 months old) we purchased a space heater for the bedrooms. Upon plugging in and starting the space heaters the breaker flipped and we were unable to flip it back to restore power to the two bedrooms and bathroom. So we did have to pack up and leave right away. Luckily we had family in town we could stay with last minute, but moving so late and finding alternative lodging quickly was very stressful. I can’t imagine not having family in town and trying to find a hotel at 9pm with 3 kids. It’s completely understandable that things happen, but there are ways to go above and beyond for your guests to recover their experience. We have stayed with these hosts twice now, but we will not be staying again.

This place was perfect! The host thought of everything to make it a home away from home! Very nice and quiet neighborhood. I took walks every morning. Drank my morning tea on the back deck. AC worked great! (A must for this lady!!) Will definite stay here again!!

The place was very clean and the neighborhood was quiet as well as walkable. The property is the perfect distance away from but also near everything you would want to do in the Kansas City area. I had personally wished the backyard was fully fenced, but it was still a lovely pet friendly property with a nice yard and patio to enjoy the evenings on. We did not have any issues/emergencies that we would have needed the host for, but the host was very communicative with check in, check out, and anything inbetween you would need. I would absolutely love to stay here again and this will definitely be my first choice for future trips!

The property is very clean and being literally across the street from my daughter family's home made it a dream location to get lots of grandkids time. Everything was clean, organized and met expectations. We had an issue with large ants in the house and after a severe thunderstorm they were much more present. Not something that can be anticipated really and it's obviously not due to lack of cleanliness, the place was spotless. I'm sure the proprietors will address the issue. I would certainly recommend this quiet, cozy location to others.

Cozy home

This was perfect to go to comicon with the kids. Even though it's two rooms it has a semi room leading to the back porch that gives a little privacy. Everything was great including the neighbors. Loved the neighborhood people walking dogs and running.

Th best vacation home!

I am very impressed & happy with our stay at this inviting charming truly cozy home!! All the blankets & pillows. The theme is so fun! We enjoyed every part of this home. Best sleep we've had in weeks. Everything was perfect. I cannot think of anything that would improve this because it had everything I needed. I brought my own pots & pans but I didn't need to. Most of the time I'm lacking lots of items in the kitchens of vacation homes here I was pleasantly surprised. I know we will be back! Cannot go wrong with cozy in KC also they are so accommodating & truly treat you like a human, not just a number. Well worth the price as well. It was a great relaxing cozy time

Great football weekend getaway!

Perfect little house in a quiet neighborhood, but just 15 minutes to the stadium. Was perfect for our family’s trip to the Chief’s game! Everything was clean and tidy, just as pictured.

Quick trip to KC to see family

Checkmate was a wonderful, clean 2+1 in a fantastic location. Roeland Park is convenient to d.t. and also the southern suburbs whwre we have family. The coffee bar is nice. Comfortable beds for all and the fact that we could bring our small dog with imus sealed the deal. Thanks!

Checkmate is a winner!

This is a well maintained home located in a quiet neighborhood. Comfortable beds, a great coffee bar, lots of built-ins to store clothes and belongings, and convenient to shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday stay!

Cute little house

Stayed for 19 nights for a work assignment. Disappointed that I was not able to use the garage. The deck is a bit unstable and the refrigerator leaked from time to time but overall a great house!

Perfect KC getaway!

The Checkmate was absolutely perfect for my small’s family’s week KC. Neighborhood was fantastic, great proximity and easy access to anywhere you might want to go! We visit KC often and would definitely book again!
