Everything about this hotel is exceptional. Free drinks pre and post dinner. Open fireplace on deck even had marshmallows to toast. Staff extremely courteous and polite at all times. One of the best hotels ive stayed in. Was booked in initially through Intrepid tour and i had a further 4 nights post tour in a cheaper room. Let me stay on with no further cost

Good hotel, too busy of an area.

Great hotel, excellent lounge, wonderfully pleasant staff. The location, while central to a lot of things in Kyoto, is unbearably busy. An insane amount of western tourists who are rude and left trash up and down the streets. It’s a shame people aren’t more respectful of the area and what it has to offer. Just be weary of that.

Room was very spacious, bed and pillows were comfortable, and the location could not have been more central. The hotel had hundreds of restaurants and bars within walking distance and is close to a major rail station. However, even though in the middle of the hustle and bustle the building was very quiet and we were able to get excellent rest. Would absolutely stay here again if I come back to Kyoto.

Staying at THE GATE HOTEL KYOTO TAKASEGAWA was an unforgettable experience. The hotel blends modern elegance with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and its location is fantastic—right by the Kamo River and within walking distance to Gion, Nishiki Market, and many great restaurants and shops. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable, and all the amenities felt thoughtfully chosen. The staff are friendly, professional, and always attentive. Breakfast was excellent, with both Japanese and Western options, served in a stylish dining space that made mornings feel special. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s the perfect balance of comfort, design, and location, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto.
