Convenient but a disappointing stay

This hotel is a stone's throw away from Kyoto station and as such, it is convenient. I chose this hotel as it had perks for hotels.com with 'gold' status. I was upgraded to a slightly larger room which was so small that to get on or off the bed, you would have to climb to the foot of the bed and get down from there. For someone with a bad back, this was terrible. Breakfast was also a disappointment. The selection was small and a lot of the items were no longer hot. This included the miso soup and porridge. It is a waste of money to buy breakfast at this hotel. The service was good as the staff was attentive but I wouldn't be staying here again (considering the options that are available by the train station).

The hotel was next to Kyoto Station, which made it incredibly convenient. The room was very clean, but not very spacious (although average for Japanese standards). The hotel was at walking distance to some attractions (temples, museums). Breakfast had a large selection of items (Japanese and non), but the quality of the food was average. Overall a good choice.

Very convenient to Kyoto station. Well cared for older style hotel with attentive front desk. Restaurants are designed for lingering; complete breakfast buffet with Japanese and western offerings and a business traveler’s bar. Many nearby restaurant/bakery options in Porta shopping center at the station. Excellent internet speeds.

The hotel has a really elegant feel as soon as you go up the escalator. The staff are extremely sweet and helpful. The room was gorgeous. The bed was super comfortable and the bath tub was just the perfect addition to soak every night. This hotel was convenient to access and close to many areas for food and accessing the trains. Highly recommend staying here. Also, the staff help you with the Kuro Neko luggage services to send to your next hotel.

Pleasant surprise

Well located near the Kyoto station. Surrounding is quiet and easy to move around. Experienced front desk service team. Shout out to Mr Konda and Ms Zeng Ping that made a very positive impression to my partner, patiently explaining and sharing detailed information of the restaurant selection, direction guidance, places of interest etc. Their level of English proficiency is above average which is a big comfort to English speaker. Room aspect, open wardrobe is small ( can’t hang too many clothes) limited space in the room. Toilet and shower is of good size. Replenished water daily which is very much appreciated. Safe box, fridge and kettle available. Room slippers provided. Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice and cozy with excellent service from the hotel team.

Enjoyable stay

The room is small. No bedside table. Open wardrobe is small so not much space to hang more clothes. The location is very good as it is 7-8 mins walk from Kyoto station. The star of this hotel is the front desk team. Mr Keiichiro Konda and Ms Zeng Ping that we personally encountered was a gem. They were patient with our needs and provided the right information and guidance to places of interest and restaurants suggestions. Far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the team and taking care of us during our stay. Hope to return in the near future.

The location is very close to the Kyoto station so it makes it easy to travel. The room size was quite small but they did give me free breakfast upgrade as part of Expedia VIP membership so it was nice. Of note, instead of ordering massage service from the hotel, it’s probably more worth it to go to an actual massage place

The hotel was clean and the breakfast was outstanding. However, the staff is very process driven instead of results driven. We arrived at 2:40pm and had to wait for 20 minutes to check in because “check in time is 3pm”. On New Year’s Day we did not have reservations for the restaurant and. Everything in town was closed. We asked for room service or food “to go” and there was no flexibility. They should have an option for those who do not have a reservation. The hotel is great when everything falls in line with the expected, but they extremely rigid in the policies and do not accommodate when faced with unusual circumstances.
