My vacation rental is located on approximately 1/2 acre in a small, upscale community two miles north of the historic whaling town of Hilo. The lanai faces the cool trade winds and Honolii Beach, the popular eastside surf spot, is just a five-minute walk down a one-lane road.

We loved our cottage just north of Hilo. The best part was walking two blocks to the beach and watching all of the surfers. There was even a rainbow! Magical. The neighborhood is super quiet and Terry was friendly and lives next door. It only takes about 10minutes to drive into Hilo for dining and markets. There were gorgeous orchids in the garden. It was a perfect, low key place for us to spend a few days.
