La Fonda on the Plaza
"Absolutely gorgeous hotel with original artwork and traditional southwest architecture. Our room was on the small side but beautiful, beds were comfortable, loved the big tub/shower combination with hand painted tiles. There is a mini fridge and coffee maker and they include reusable water bottles. There were two in the room and when we asked for two more for tha kids they sent them right up. One minor complaint about the room is that there is no dresser or drawers to put your clothes in. It was tight with 4 suitcases. The pool is lovely and the hot tub very nice and private. Gym is adequate for a quick workout but very small with not too many options. On the main floor there is a delicious French cafe where we had breakfast and a gorgeous restaurant which we did not try. There is also a little pop up bar in the lobby (very welcome after a long drive!), sometimes live music, and tons of high end shops. Once you step outside you are right adjacent to the plaza and all the shopping you might desire. Loretta chapel is behind the hotel and the cathedral is a half block north. For a little nature I walked along the river one day - beautiful trail! - and walked to the cross and surrounding park another day. Staff was so lovely and made excellent dining suggestions. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar but wish it was open later! That plus a poolside bar would have made this extra great! But overall we had a wonderful time and I’m so happy we stayed at La Fonda."
