Quaint Getaway

Pros: Loved how quaint this hotel was. Wifi worked great.
Cons: A larger shower would be nice.
Location: Close to Rialto Bridge, St. Marks Square and all the center of town.
We were pleasantly surprised on the quaint little hotel. It was central between the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square. It was difficult to find, but I think everything is difficult to find in Venice. It would be helpful if they added directions to their site because map quest and google maps did not work. We found it was extremely easy to find if you took the shuttle boat to Rialto bridge, head away from the bridge, turn and stay on Bembo St. The "street" will change names and you will be on the correct street. Our room was adorably decorated. I think we were in part of the attic. Our ceilings were slanted and all wood, especially in the bathroom. The shower was small but doable. We had the same shower in one of the other hotels we stayed in so we assume that is normal. Breakfast was also good.

They do try and the breakfast makes up for many of the faults caused more by being an older hotel in an ancient city than by any fault of the owners

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Once you have found it, this hotel is close to everything. The staff tries to help but few have any real command of English. The breakfast includes fresh fruit and you really save money this way, eating in Venice is very expensive. The worst part was the mattress, both of us were un comfortable and the room was very small. Still it was a good value.

Good value for the price.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Venice hotels are expensive and this one was reasonably priced. The service was great. Everyone on the staff was helpful. THe room was good. It is centrally located between the Rialto and St. Marks Square. Get off at the Rialto vaporetta stop on your way in, continue to down along the canal toward St. Mark's and turn down Calle Bembo. It turns into the street the hotel is on. I will say check the price for Palce Bonavechiatti across the street as well ... it looked a little nicer and the price was not much more the days I stayed when I checked it.

Nice hotel close to St. Marks

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
We spent one night in two rooms before a cruise. We arrived quite late in the evening and left the next day. The room was adequate, clean, and shower small, but usable. I wouldn't give it a 4star except the front office desk staff was super. The best part of the hotel is its location, on a very quite street just a couple blocks from St. Marks and 4 blocks from the famous bridge. Also the pizzeria next door has inexpensive wine and cheese that made for a great snack for weary travelers.

Beautiful hotel!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Great location! Three minute stroll to St. Mark's square and 5 minutes to Rialto Bridge. My room was a beautiful Venetian jewel box with beautiful damask wall covering, nice Venetian furniture, & a gorgeous Venetian Murano glass chandelier! The staff was helpful and courteous and the front desk was manned 24/7. This is where I will stay on my next visit. Great experience!

Excellent location with shops and restaurants nearby, not to mention the proximity to both St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, small rooms
Superior double was very small, but alas I didn't come to Venice to spend a significant amount of time in my room! Cleanliness was an absolute must and this hotel didn't let me down.

Hotel is OK; Beware the internet charges

I have 2 requirements in a hotel: good bed and good internet service. For the former, the Gorizia is OK -- location is convenient, rooms are clean but small, and breakfast (included) is good. However, the hotel advertises internet service, for which the buyer should beware. The price is 6 (or 8) Euro/hour in th elobby (depending on which staff you ask), and 9 euro for 20 minutes in your room (648 euro/day), a rate beyond comprehension. This compares unfavorably with the rate of 8 euro/day in any plaza in Venice via veniceconnect. If you need internet, avoid this hotel.

GREAT LOCATION, 3 minutes from St. Mark's

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, great location
Cons: No free Internet
There was no Air Conditioning in April. They say they turn the AC on in May. The weather is in the 70's, but after a gondola ride, a boat ride and some shopping we all missed the A/C. It was fine though, I was just a bit surprised. We are spoiled. It was about 55 F degrees at night. The location was great. It was a small cozy hotel. Rooms look like they were decorated by your grandmother. They are small and very clean. The bed was comfortable, staff was very polite and offered good choices on restaurants.

Hotel Gorizia

We had a very pleasant stay. The only caveats would be that it took the man at the front desk a long time to find our reservation---he told us we had no reservation and no rooms were available until we produced the printout from Travel online, and even then it took some telephoning---and the computer for Internet access was working only for a few hours of our six day stay. The hotel was pleasant and convenient, the breakfast (to the music of Vivaldi) above expectations. There were Venetian chandeliers and mirrors throughout, a large sitting room with balcony, and an elevator for those who wanted it.
