The reviews are true. This property is very dated, however for the right price it is a decent place to stay. The rooms are clean and well equipped. There is an onsite ski rental shop, ski lockers, convenience store and wonderful onsens and pool area.

When you would like to book a hotel a short distance from downtown Uozu, the Oyado Ikegami is an ideal hotel.

The APA Hotel Uozu-Ekimae is positioned 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the central part of Uozu. Or, alternatively, the Hotel Route-Inn Uozu is located 6 miles (9 kilometers) away. Other accommodation options worth checking out are the APA Hotel Toyama along with the Ryokan Dangoya.

The wider Chubu district is definitely worth visiting as well. Chubu is well known for beaches, and common sights include ruins and castles. Bold visitors can also get involved in snowboarding, skiing and cross-country skiing in this part of Japan.

25 miles (43 kilometers) to the west of Uozu you can find Himi, which is home to the Kanaya-cho Street. Kanayamachi has a great range of places to stay. If you're after another option, you may wish to stay at Himi, which is found 30 miles (49 kilometers) to the west of Uozu. There, make sure you have a look at the Himi Seaside Botanical Garden. My 9 year old daughter loved the kid's club and was there before dinner everyday. My husband and I also loved the gym - it was very clean and well equipped. The onsen was also wonderful, especially the outdoor section. The breakfast buffet selection was very wide and we needed a couple of days to finish discovering all the dishes. Parking was free and very convenient - we were able to park very close to the lobby. The room was spacious and had a huge powder room and a very clean shower and bath area. Housekeeping was very good at making sure we were well supplied with drip coffee and bottled water everyday. The only small downside was the distance between the hotel and the closest town. Thankfully we drove, so it wasn't difficult to get in and out. The surrounding area is beautiful and we would love to visit again not just for the hotel, but also for the scenic spots!"
