Summary:

McKenzie River Retreat

The Space:

A beloved and established rental property for several years leading up to the devastating Holiday Farm Fire of 2020 that destroyed this and 400 other homes in the area, this riverside retreat now returns after a two-and-a-half-year rebuilding process to once again welcome guests to the scenic splendor of the McKenzie River. This inspiring riverfront house and cabin blends modern architecture with fantastic outdoor amenities that will make you feel like you’re floating on water! The cabin is ideal for two families or a group of fishing buddies. Guests enjoy easy water access for fishing, rafting, or kayaking and the property is midway between McKenzie Bridge and the Springfield/Eugene area, just 37 miles away.

Inside the main house, a dramatic front wall of windows provides floor-to-ceiling views overlooking the McKenzie River. Comfortable lounge furniture makes the open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen an inviting spot to enjoy the company of friends and family. Tie fly-fishing flies from the comfort of the sofa or find yourself watching a movie on cable. A gas-powered fireplace keeps the space intimate and down to earth. Complimentary in-home WiFi makes it easy to stay in touch on social media, browse the web, or catch up on some remote work. Celebrate meals as a group while the phenomenal views feed your senses around the charming wood dining table. Meal prep is made easier with help from a well-stocked kitchen and there's additional seating at the breakfast bar. Once the plates are cleared, leave the cleanup to the dishwasher while you dive into a good book by the fire or get lost in a puzzle or game.

The main house has two primary suites which include private bathrooms. One additional bedroom with a private bathroom. The cabin has two bedrooms with private bathrooms. The cabin has a full kitchen and living room overlooking the river. Both the main house and cabin have large decks for outdoor eating and relaxing on romantic star-lit evenings. Both have private laundry facilities for your use.

Outside, the main house’s deck is built as though it’s floating on the McKenzie River! Choose between the beach firepit or the outdoor kitchen to roast hot dogs (it’s more fun on a stick) or s’mores by nightfall. Kick up your feet on the outdoor furniture and let the flow of the river wash away your worries.

When not relaxing on the decks, the river and surrounding region provide ample opportunity for outdoor recreation! Catch your fishing limit of trout, steelhead, or salmon from the banks of the river, just steps away from the decks, or hire an area guide for a truly memorable experience. Nearby is Tokatee Golf Club, ranked as one of the best in the US, the McKenzie River Trail, ranked the number one mountain biking trail in the US, Hoodoo Ski Resort and Cougar Dam, and Hot Springs. Plan a day trip on the trails and playground at Spencer and Skinner Butte Park. Alton Baker Park is a popular spot for canoeing and provides a boat launch and dog park in the Springfield / Eugene area. For a bit of history and educational exhibits visit Dorris Ranch to learn about the Pioneers or the Cascade Raptor Center to learn about birds of prey. Nearby Springfield and Eugene are brimming with culture and feature art galleries, craft breweries, nightlife, and family-friendly entertainment. The University of Oregon has year-round educational and sporting events.

Wherever you roam, you’ll love coming home to these unique homes on the bank of the McKenzie River.

Family Fun

The property was beautiful. The kids all had fun. There was plenty of space for everyone. We enjoyed the beautiful view, even from inside. The fire pit was a blast also.We didnt like that none of the codes worked to get onto the property or into the houses. If it want for the grounds keeper, we would have been waiting a lo g time to get in. The grounds keeper was amazing. He was friendly and willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

Amazing House and Property

This house and property is beautiful! The houses were very clean. We had had issues entering the houses upon arrival. We got through the gate, but the house access codes were incorrect. I called the help line. I sat on hold for 30 minutes, while the agent was "trying to contact the local agent". Finally, the local agent called me. She was unsure why the codes were not working. She gave me multiple codes to try. We finally got into the little house. Eventually we got access to the large house. The local agent was really nice to work with. This process in total was about an hour and 15 minutes. After we were finally able to get into both houses, everything was great!. The only other thing that was wrong, was the kitchen only had one small frying pan. For a house that can host 10 people, you would think the pots and pans would have been stocked better. We will definitely be back!.

Life on the River

The property is beautiful and well appointed. We enjoyed the weather and wildlife. The problem was VACASA. We were given an incorrect access code for the gate and no codes for the lock boxes. Our entry was delayed until we were able to speak to a local representative and gain the correct codes. It was very stressful and frustrating as no one but the local person could help us.
