Arrived at the hotel after a red eye flight from Perth at 7am with my young son. We checked in early and asked if we could receive our room key at some time during the day before the scheduled 2pm. The girl on the front desk said she would contact me if a room became available. We called twice during the day and were told the same thing. We went back to the hotel around 1:30, sat in the lobby, and watched as people who were just arriving were given keys to their room.
Yes, I understand check in is 2pm. But there used to be such a thing as customer service, hotels and staff used to try and help people and let them go up their rooms a bit early. They could see my young son was exhausted and not feeling very well but they chose not to help us. they could've given our room some slight priority, I know because I have friends in the hotel industry and that's what they do routinely. We were finally given the keys to our room at 1:55.
The room was adequate but rather shabby.Walls need a fresh coat of paint and tiles in the bathroom were cracked.
