BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY AND PONDS

This 300 acre farm house with 2 ponds is absolutely beautiful. The property owner Doug made check in and check out a breeze. He even had milk, eggs, butter, coffee, and muffins ready for our stay. Communication was prompt when we had questions. If you are looking to go back to a simpler time with peace and quiet...this is the one for you. 10 minute drive to sugercreek, the gateway to amish country.

Away from the hustle and bustle

We stayed here for a week, and enjoyed our time. The hosts were fantastic - checking in a few times to see if we needed anything, like bringing dry wood for the firepit when the wood already there got soaked in the rain. They even let us know we could stop by their place (which is right near the entrance to the property) if needed. The place is a restored farmhouse. It looked pretty bare when we got there, but we found out there was quite a bit that was hidden from view in cabinets, etc. Just make sure you look through everything when you get there. From what we saw, the "neighbors" are mainly groundhogs, deer and a few field mice, as well as frogs and turtles if you head down to the lake. There are various boats there, but the paddleboats seemed to be more for kids. The canoe and rowboat are more adult oriented, but it was more for exploring the lake, although others have said there are plenty of fish there as well.Although it felt isolated when we were there, we did go into New Philadelphia for dinner a couple of times, as well as supplies. This area, which include a Super Walmart and other stores, is only about a 20 minute drive although you won't realize it until you are almost there,Believe the hosts: you won't have cell service here. Because of the hills around the house, even though 5G service is fine a mile or so from the house, there is none at the house. There is Wi-Fi but it is DSL so even looking up things to do was slow, but it really didn't bother us.

Quiet and Peaceful Escape

Amazing location. So quiet and peaceful. Would be tough to find a better place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy nature. The hosts were great. Very responsive and left us several treats to make our trip even more memorable. The farmhouse was clean, very well kept and had everything we needed for a great trip. The property was also well cared for and the fishing was outstanding. So much to explore. Will definitely book again in the near future. Thank you Doug and Jennifer!

Mom's 85th!

Doug and Jennifer were wonderful hosts! Answered all of our questions within minutes. The farmhouse was just as described...My mom loved reminiscing about times past in this historic farmhouse. We loved shopping at nearby Amish country and celebrating her 85th Birthday! My husband and son enjoyed the lake and caught many catch and release fish! Quiet setting, not a sole in sight. We look forward to coming back!

Amazing Home & Property

The home was an incredible mix of primitive furniture, floors and cabinets and fascinating, eclectic artwork. We hiked a portion of the 300 acres and loved the terrain and views. Doug and Jen were perfect hosts. I highly recommend this VRBO and hope to return.

We had an amazing time. From the first moment of arrival with a welcome surprise, to the last moment of departure with a goodbye phone call, the setting, facility and hosts' hospitality could not have been better. This is a beautiful location with multiple amenities outside within steps, like fishing, hiking, frisbee golf, playground equipment, etc.Even inside the home it is an artistic adventure. We loved every minute, and would provide a 100% recommendation.

Moms Trip

A friend of mine and I needed a last minute getaway and boy did this place deliver! We shopped during the day at nearby Sugarcreek and Berlin. During the evenings, we took advantage of the beautiful scenery with walks and wine by the bonfire. This cabin is peaceful and provided everything we could need. This spot is going to become our yearly tradition!! Fantastic hosts!!

We’ll Be Back!

Our get-away to the historic Farmhouse was a wonderful time! Nestled within a gorgeous property of rolling hills, beautiful ponds and towering trees, we appreciated that there was so much we could partake in. Fishing was a favorite. Inside the house was so comforty and decorated to suit the time gone by and adorned with artwork throughout. We weren’t missing a thing. Another fav was the porches and relaxing around the fire pit. Truly a delightful time! We’ll be back for sure!
