When we arrived we had to wait for the front desk clerk to check us in. The room was okay. Clean but outdated. We decided to sit in the Tavern. The bartender was friendly and served us promptly. But then he disappeared. I had to got find someone to get us another drink and that person had to go find someone else because she didn't know how to pour a beer from a tap. After about 45 minutes the bartended returned. Other guests came in to have dinner and the lone waitress had to go find another waitress to help her take those orders. At one point the manager came in and asked them how the food was. She was very abrupt and not very friendly. The breakfast buffet was supposed to be ready at 8am. it wasn't until 8:15 that everything was set. Then the waitress monitoring the buffet let everyone know that someone didn't show up for work and that's why they were late. As a guest I don't need to know your staffing issues. Later a guest yelled into the kitchen that the eggs, bacon and sausage were empty. Most of the staff was dressed like they just game from the gym and were not very professional. This could be a nice palce to stay if it was run professioanlly and was updated.

TERRIBLE - stay somewhere else

Pros: nothing
Cons: beyond saving (see comments above -- would require a complete renovation) - don't stay there
Location: the one hidden gem of the experience was that we drove over to Chester for dinner and ate at the Free Range Restaurant -- absolutely fantastic!!
dreadful experience. hotel was run down. smelled bad. stains all over the carpets. room wasn't clean. it was missing a window (it was covered over with plastic). noisy as hell all night. I could go on but I think this covers the gist of it. worst night of sleep I think I've ever gotten in a hotel. If you're trying to decide between camping in the woods and staying in a hut with running water and electricity this is probably fine. If you want a hotel for a good night's sleep, go somewhere else.

Good enough

Pros: Clean enough to get some sleep.
Cons: Vending machines, warnings of any issues (wet carpets), rugs should not be stained.
We spent the night as we had driven about three hours for a concert near there. There was a restaurant but no vending machines and you had to get ice from the front desk if you wanted it. The rug in the room was stained but the room was OK other than that. The rugs throughout the hallways were soaked in some parts, not sure if this was because of ice build up on the roof or what, there were no signs warning of it. I had expected to be in a room in the main part of the house, but we were sent FAR down several hallways to a wing that was more like a motel.
