The golf course view from the restaurant / sports bar patio was beautiful. The food and drinks were good. The rooms were very clean and seemed recently updated. The bed was more comfortable than many I’ve had. The staff were all very pleasant.

Great hotel just outside San Diego

Pros: Staff and room decorations
Cons: There is a fireplace in next to the pool, but they would not turn it on in summer, my wife really wanted to, but they would not turn it on.
Location: Golf of course, and some ligh shopping like target and pharmacies
The hotel staff went beyond expected, great service

Best and only place to stay in the El Cajon area..

Good, clean, friendly place. Gorgeous view on the golf course. Not a five star hotel but for the price? It's great!

NOT a "resort" - just a glorified motel

Pros: I could book it for only one night during the "high season" in San Diego.
Cons: Raze the place to the ground and build and actual "resort" or just call the place Carlton Oaks Motel
Location: This place is tucked back behind an average, at best, neighborhood. There is nothing to walk to. You can only golf on the premises.
This is NOT a "resort" - I have stayed in vacation resorts many times and this is NOTHING like a resort. I have also stayed in Best Western hotels that were far, Far nicer than this! When you first arrive, you drive through a neighborhood and come upon a worn out looking "motel" at best. The staff asked a lot of questions when I arrived and took a credit card deposit "for incidentals and in case you have a wild party in there" - seriously?! From the start, I was put off by all their nosy questions and by this comment. (I actually took pictures of my room the next morning, to "prove" I hadn't had a party - just in case...) My room (on the bottom floor - supposedly there was nothing else available, although I saw many "vacant" signs on the doors) had painted cinder block walls and a view of a very dry (golf) driving range. And when you turn the upper deadlock, you get to display to the outside world that your room is "occupied" vs. "vacant" - Why??! I booked this hotel because it was the only one I could find in San Diego that would allow me to book only one night during the "high season" (August). I didn't even bother to check out the dining room because the breakfast menu wasn't anything special and I was already so disappointed with the place, especially for the price, that I checked out and went to a local IHOP. If you need a one night stay in SD, then this is one of your few options, but arrive in the dark and leave early so you will only be a little disappointed.

Good location for out of town guests

Booked handicapped accessible through travelocity. None available. No first floor rooms available. Had 2 nd floor near ramp which was acceptable. Loud neighbor, thin walls. Front office staff on duty when checking in was very nice and professional. Apologized for not having the room.would have liked a microwave. Restaurant had good food. Nice setting. Would stay again but book direct to get room I need.

The only decent place to stay in El Cajon

is this place a four star major hotel? No.... But for the price, the location, and the fact that they have a pool and restaurant on site, it's a four star for the area;) the staff was friendly, the rooms are clean and newly renovated, and it's super quiet. They have a lovely pool area with fire pit and a full bar, open at 6am:) compared to all the other places to stay in El Cajon, this is the Ritz Carlton!!!
