No where to hand up Robes or towels. Bath room lights were on a motion detector, and actuated the lights as you walked in from a darkened room. Way, way bright. Blinded so badly, couldn’t see your way back to bed. Food at restaurant was sub par.

Great stay! Room cozy but comfy and has complimentary bottle of wine that I paired with. Chocolate torte from restaurant that was heavenly! Had a private soak in hot tub and enjoyed free breakfast on way to work each morning! Definitely stay again!

Unexpected great find!

A very pleasant surprise! We had a lovely view over the river. The hotel is quite new and everything was in tip top condition. Staff very attentive. Independence is a gorgeous little town with good restaurants. Overall a great hotel!

Hot tub closed

Hot tub was closed. This was the main reason we booked this hotel over others. We did not find out this info until the moment we tried to schedule our soak. We also asked front desk person a question she said she needed to check with her manager and we never heard back. Nice hotel just not the best communication or service.

Staying at the Independence was a great experience. It’s a lovely hotel with a great staff. And the area can’t be beat. You can walk downtown, to the river, to the park. The rooftop patio is beautiful and my kids and I saw the osprey nest AND got to watch the osprey leaving the nest and returning. Shout out to Kathryn (the one who spells her name with a k and y) at the front desk. She had infinite patience with me and with my children!
